What they *ought* to do is have tiers so you can incorporate all three games into one collection.

The game looks very pretty, but this is literally the first time I've heard of the Shenmue series (and I feel like I have a decent knowledge of video games). Is the series even popular enough to reach $2 million on Kickstarter? I feel like that's quite a stretch for just the bare minimum, let alone $4 million for another area and who knows how much for the other two. I mean, Bloodstained was $5.5 million and Yooka-Laylee is at $3 million, and those two were some of the most hyped games I've ever seen on Kickstarter, so I'm wondering if this game thinks it can easily get the money it needs but is really going in over its head.
Also, the people who dubbed over the video did not sound the least bit excited lol.

Well it's been over a decade since Shenmue II came out for Dreamcast/Xbox so maybe that's why you haven't heard of it. But it has a pretty big cult following. The kickstarter hasn't even been live for an hour and it's already 1/4th of the way to its goal.

As mentioned, Shenmue was a big deal when it first came out. When the original game was released it was one of the most expensive (production costs) video games ever created, and looked at as one of the most ambitious. It introduced Quick-Time Events the way we know of them now (hell, it coined the term!), had a world that was as real as a game could be at the time, with natural weather systems & NPC AI that acted like they had actual lives to live, & had the pedigree of Yu Suzuki, who at the time was still one of the most iconic game producers ever. Shenmue was insanely huge.
The fact that Yu Suzuki was constantly bombarded with questions about the third game for 14 straight years shows how much people wanted the story to finish.

Actually, I think that was kind of on purpose. Shenmue wasn't known for having stellar dubbing, being filled with a lot of stilted & odd performances; I think that kind of helped add to the charm of the title. Maybe Suzuki wanted to maintain that feel, though it's obvious that the voice work was more a test run than anything right now.

I never played 2. Really want it on Live and Network.
Also, no Xbone port, no funding.

Yeah I guess since Shenmue II came out when I was only 5, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that I haven't heard of it. But if it has such a dedicated following, I would have thought I'd at least heard of it by now.
And yeah, it's already at $750k on Kickstarter in an hour? If I actually bothered to look at the Kickstarter before I typed that, I would have never questioned it lol.

I had no idea the series had such accomplishments under it's belt. There's yet another reason why I find it strange I have never heard of it until now.

Just get it on superior PC. I'm guessing no Xbox support because of one of these reasons..
1.Vastly more players on PS4.
2. Sony probably promising money if funding is made
Replying to the post earlier by "Xionea" about 2m being "a lot". It will hit that in days. I promise you. Possibly less. Shenmue is one of the most loved franchise from Sega.
edit: it's already half-way there...Lol

Would you believe I have a Mac?
My efforts to burn a ROM for my DC have been unfruitful.

Finally! Now, bring Shenmue HD to the new consoles and PC so the people who was born after Dreamcast could experience this gem.

Seems more like they're doing it for PS4 because Sony let them promote it at their E3 conference. The PS4 isn't really getting anything special out of this, in fact the PC is getting a physical copy while the PS4 is download only.
And yeah, it'll be funded in another hour or so. as the UK and the east coast of NA is starting to wake up. Only $400K left.

I just hope they don't try to make it like the original, the at times laughable dialogue is nice as a retrospective, but not something they should do for this one.
