This has been a glorious year for Love Live. So happy for this idol franchise.

The μ's girls have the Midas touch it would seem. Wink

Well deserved though, I absolutely love this franchise. Bring on the film and keep more coming because I am nowhere near burnt out from Love Live! just yet.

On a related note, aren't NIS America selling this on their website?

That sounds about right, seeing how a lot of Love Live!'s home-media (music CDs, DVDs/BDs) reach the ~80,000 range.

It was fairly obvious it would be gold certified for shipping over 100K copies, since the 1st Best Live collection has reached 122K+ Oricon "sales" (but it has obviously "shipped" more than that since Oricon does not include overseas sales or unsold stock in their sales numbers) after charting for 126 consecutive weeks since its release back in January 2013.

If a fan wants to get pretty much the whole Love Live! discography in just 5 CDs, then naturally people would buy the 1st and 2nd collections. The mobile game is also an excellent way for casual fans to get into the franchise (because pretty much the whole discography is in the game as shortened versions of the songs), and they are the ones that are contributing to the ~1K average weekly sales for the 1st collection.

They sold out during the pre-order stage.

I just recently bought Collection I on Amazon, with a bonus Blu-ray with 5 animated songs. I cannot attest to its current availability however.

Congrats to the franchise and fans. For those that don't know, the μ is the Greek letter mu. Why they choose letters like this for the title is beyond me.

Am currently living in Japan. Can confirm that Love Live has basically taken over every street corner, and the advertising in every bloody train station. And the ramen cups in every convenience store.

...The hype is real....

It's explained if you watch the show. spoiler[I won't go into full details as to how they got the name(don't want to spoil too much), but it's because there are nine members, and nine muses in Greek mythology. Hence µ's]

Gah! I forgot about the movie! Oh, I am so excited!
I am so proud of Love Live! and it's fans for getting the franchise this far. I have personally been following since the first season release and am in love with the characters. I'm excited for their future.
