Aside from this one negative with Amazon, we've had 2 straight articles consisting of TLR and the even better POI(Yeah, I said it). What a wonderful day it is.

There was nothing nostalgic or innocent in the anime OAD just some serious creepyness.

I'm not even surprised that after they have pretty much completely removed loli sexualization from anime, now they're targeting manga as well.

I remember when this bill passed people were convinced it was going to be the end of Japan sexualizing teenagers in anime (ha ha ha) but it turns out, nah, they're just going after the really creepy stuff.

Good to hear. Anything that forms its narrative basis around ogling "cute girls when they were innocent and defenseless [sic]" deserves to be removed from circulation.

I'm against censorship of any kind, but this technically isn't censorship. By the way, the manga isn't really THAT bad. It's just not funny.

This is pretty sad. Especially since this is currently my favorite manga.

That's a shame, really enjoy the manga, don't find it creepy in the slightest, pretty sure I've seen worse (content) listed on Amazon JP before.

This is probably the reason they're not on CDJapan, gonna have to find somewhere else to buy these now. Anyone know of any good website for this?

It could have been a licencing issue, like a disagreement over the payment contracts or what not.

We don't know yet why it's been removed, but this is all business

I will never understand why some people enjoy looking at immature children for pleasure.

This is one of those cases where self-regulation may have helped them avoid such restrictions...maybe. Were these titles always labeled to warn about the themes inside?

As long as its available elsewhere, its not a huge problem. I'd say.

Always nice to see those who are pro censorship.

If I'm understanding the Japanese articles correctly, Amazon made the decision to pull the title after they determined the 8th volume violated their corporate content standards. Other retailers continue to carry the title, so it doesn't appear related to Tokyo's youth development ordinances. While it's a bummer for fans and the author, just as they have a right to read and draw what they want, so too does Amazon have a right to decide not to sell a product.

Saw this in another forum this morning, I think it's apt for the discussion about the Tokyo ordinance's censorship.

Quote:
One can discover a lot of moral and ethical rules ... by always asking, “Would I support this rule if I were forced to live under it?”

So ask yourself if you would be happy to live where a city committee could decide that, say DragonBall in all it's forms, promotes fantastical corruption of character and needs to be banned from sale to youth.

I think the answer would be "No" under those cirumstances, even if you would otherwise find something like Paradise of Innocence to be repulsive.

Of course this is all theoretical, the people in Tokyo running that committee right now have demonstrated more sense than that, but there is no guarantee that the next group of committee members will be the same. Best not to be censoring in the first place.

Edit : I see VORITA reports that it was Amazon.jp's decision due to the managa's content, so in this particular case it is limited to just the one vendor.
