It would seem that Chaos Dragon is going to have a solid cast across the board and everything shown in the PV looks good thus far.

Yep I'm ready for this, the Summer Season looks to be shaping up quite nicely.

Uhh

pretty sure urobuchi's character used to be a dude...

Not that there's anything wrong with that but as far as cliches go trading the long-haired silent angsty assassin for what seems to be a fanservicey energetic female assassin is more of a lateral move than anything.

Good PVs. Red Dragon does look somewhat like High School DxD's Ddraig or Fairy Tail's Igneel, as someone mentioned in one of the other articles. Then again, if one wants to draw a fearsome, red-themed dragon, there is usually the same template.

I find it funny that the art style is reminiscent to that of ufotable's *like in their Fate adaptations), but the art style of their next anime (also Summer cour, also dragons an' stuff) looks distinctively different. Did the studios switch staff or something? Laughing

Getting a bunch of fantasy/scifi authors together for a role playing game and then developing the results into an anime--who came up with that idea? It seems so brilliant, yet this all looks so...typical? So far. Hopefully it'll live up to its potential.

Well, if I want a red dragon deity, it would be obviously this:

At least, Osiris/Slifer has a proper name. Red Dragon/Akaki Ryu is just damn lazy naming.

Well, they can try and copy the art style of YGO dragons, but in the end, a heroic dragon might end up like this:

A little bit brutal for a hero dragon, don't you think? Also, the art style of YGO is way too unique, you can't just copy them. Anyway, YGO dragons often tend to look too radical and too extreme (which is actually not bad).

No, but Silver Link have a knowledge with Ufotable style (they worked with Fate/Zero and Fate UBW as in-between and finish animation studio), and they're really good with copying that, if you seen Prisma Illya.

Why do so many of the guys look like girls so much? Or is it just me? Fugaku, Hien, even the main character. If they just swapped voice actors with actresses they would still fit the character style pretty well.

Regarding the Slifer comment, "Chaos Dragon" itself is also a term for a Yu-Gi-Oh deck.

Lodoss was the start but replays (game sessions adapted into novel form) are pretty big business in the japan tabletop world. Every big western or eastern game has a at least one. Hell, the Full Metal Panic! RPG that just launched has a replay with Tessa's voice actress playing the lead character.

Looks pretty generic so far, but since the staff is interesting, the anime could be as well. Will keep an eye on this, but my expectations are neither high of low.
