Note that they say nothing about the anime itself. This is for anime merchandise.

This is very good news. There is a good chance on getting the anime licensed now.

If they're releasing the merch, there's a good chance they will handle the anime as well.

Willing to bet it was Viz who dubbed those few episodes on Crunchyroll last year for the short amount of time they were available, testing the waters as they say.
As long as it is good merch, I will def pick some up. I also have all my fingers and toes crossed they announce the anime license as well.

My heart caught in my throat. We are so close to getting the anime licensed, I can feel it.

Actually, Phantom Blood takes up three volumes, and they'll be released this month, May, and August. Haven't heard anything about Battle Tendency's release here, though. Figured we wouldn't start getting it until December at the rate they're releasing them.

There's no money in the anime series. They tried it already with the OAV.

^This. I'm sure if Viz plays their cards right, they will be rolling in the cash and making a big return, and hopefully we'll finally see more Hunter X Hunter anime over here on home media.

is it it true that Hirohiko Araki doesn't want the first 2 arcs released in the west? I heard that was the reason why they started with Stardust Crusade.

Hell, yeah. I'm getting a little tired of this, actually. Hey, the manga is coming out! Hey, we're the merchandize licensee! Hey, somebody has paid to dub the first three eppies of Stardust Crusaders!
And now some news on actually releasing the anime...

I'm actually hoping FUNi gets Hunter x Hunter. With them, we'll know for sure that the show is getting dub and it's more than likely to get a premiere on Toonami. That's just me though.

You can't really compare the two. The OVAs were a mess, release-wise, and was kind of a weak adaption when compared to the David Production adaptions.
Which is another thing - the current one has so far adapted Parts 1, 2 and is finishing up 3. The OVAs only covered Part 3. Even harder to market when the only things related to JJBA in North America were the PlayStation and Dreamcast ports of the arcade game.
