Completely pointless, I hope we don't see more wasted episodes like this.

Good job geeking-out on your studio's time, Anno. Well, I guess it's his right as the boss.

I'm surprised how gorgeous the first Mobile Suit Gundam still looks after all these years. I look forward to picking up Rightstuff's release of it when they put it out.

Some of that footage is from the movies which contained an increasing amount of new footage as they went along.

^ You guys are boring
This was interesting and well-drawn key frames are always a joy to look at. Cool stuff!
Some of these are really good and at times way better than the finished cells. There's just more feeling.

It's fine on its own, not as a space filler for new shorts.

In a way I can agree with that, but I probably had more fun looking at this than most of the shorts shown so far. Only the first one, the Dragon dentist thing, and Me!Me!Me! was interesting and done well enough. Admittedly, Carnage looks interesting as well and I haven't watched that one yet, so not counting that.
But I probably have my expectations set waaaay to high anyway...

What's wrong with Anno making a tribute to two great anime creators, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and Ichiro Itano, who influenced him in early part of his career? Nothing. Without those guys, maybe Anno wouldn't be in anime creator hall of fame.
Those shorts are just to show what Japanese animators are capable of and it's not some grand money-making scheme. We should be bit thankful that they're making something interesting while being busy with their regular works .

sort of the weird that the Keys look better than the finished product. I think it is because there isn't much shading so everyone looks flat.

Who said anything about money? I thought this project was to showcase new animators.
