Sad to hear he passed I thought he was a great actor. In fact I just ordered and received Black Rain on Blu-Ray haven't seen the movie in many years going to try to watch it ASAP now.
Didn't think he was that old, boy does time pass I remember watching Black Rain when I was a little kid in theaters. He was also in Mr Baseball a kind of fun movie as well. |

Great actor. He was terrific in "The Yellow Handkerchief" and also "The Voice of the Distant Mountains" (two very similar movies directed by Yoji Yamada). He'll be missed.
Edit: He also co-starred with Robert Mitchum in "The Yakuza." |

I just heard about his death on NHK World Radio Japan today, that's very sad to hear, he was an awesome actor in Black Rain. I'm sure everybody will miss him. My condolences goes out to his families.
