Heh, I wouldn't be too surprised if it takes that long.

The thing about the Eva franchise is that their titles can take a long time to finish (Sadamoto spent over 18 years on the manga).

I would not expect it until late 2016 at the earliest. especially since endings and eva do not go to together at all (I am one of the crazys who prefers the tv ending to end of eva)

Can we really be sure that Anno was kidding? I feel like I should buy and watch the movies until the 4th one is on theaters. I would not want to wait 5 or more years for that last film.

Considering the enduring popularity of Evangelion there probably isn't any real rush to get it done to begin with.

That isn't quite long enough for me to forget how terrible 3.33 was, Anno, but you're on the right track.

This is why I'm glad I haven't started watching those films yet. Nuts if I'm going to wait around for years and years to see the end of a series I've started. If only I'd managed to do the same for A Song of Ice and Fire...

I prefer the End of Eva to the new movies.

I didn't realize working on Evangelion was such a strain for Anno. Hope he's doing better these days.

Yikes this could be a while! I've watched 3.33 a few times since the theater. Really want to own a DUB of it (hurry up, FUNi! ;p)

The original series was a *huge* strain on him, and yeah, he basically had a nervous breakdown near the end there. Fortunately for us all (and especially for him, of course) he managed to pull through it.
I'd love to see how it all ends, but if he feels he needs more time before approaching the final movie, then I'm cool with that.

If anything shows just how much of a creative trainwreck this Eva remake/reboot film franchise is this is it. 4-6 years to make a 90 minute movie ? It only means one thing : either they (Studio Khara) have no money left and have problems securing new lines of credit, or more probable they simply don't have a f-u-c-k-i-n-g clue as how to make the film storywise. There is a thing called production hell and they're right in the middle of it.

Did Miyazaki's advice to Anno remind anyone else of the painter's advice to Kiki in "Kiki's Delivery Service"?
