And this pretty much defines why I'm happy to live in Canada and pay reasonable prices for Anime DVDs. It's completely unfair that Japan has to pay so much while we usually pay a fraction of their price for the exact same thing.

22,000 yen? he must want some mid row to front row seats depending on who was performing, most likely front row since it's an anime concert.

Yeah, it is unfair that the Japanese have to pay such a high price for their hobby. But we must remember it is their resolve that keeps the anime industry running.

Don't know why anyone keeps their doors unlocked, especially when sleeping.

Well that's because Japan's crime rate is low (that include burglary), hence why doors are unlocked, I guess people in Japan think burglary are rare.

I'd be more worried about a crazy in Japan stabbing you while you are walking by than taking your wallet. All sorts of crazy crime has been happening in Japan recently.

not that i could ever leave my house unlocked (though i guess it's different raised in a country where it's not all too uncommon).

Yes I would be concerned about that too. I hope Japan stopped blaming foreigner for crime.

Mdo one of your sources is the most disgusting racist website. How could you even think that is a good source?

After looking at one of the site, I apologize, the offending link is now removed. Again, I apologized, I didn't look carefully until you mention it. I repeat: the offending link has now been removed, that was my mistake, I didn't look carefully when I was findng my source.

All that idiocy, really banning international students from sporting events because it would make the game "dull", really actually that so called "foreign blood advantage" would make the games worth getting front row seats to, also are they scared that their native Japanese players will be beaten, how about getting them to try harder instead of excluding players, practice makes perfect and competition makes you stronger.

Also, Japan is so worried about foreigners committing crime but you hear the stories of all the crazies maiming and killing folks either for no reason or from family issues (almost all of these crimes are committed by native Japanese). The SDF frowning on their troops marrying foreign women is stupid at best, really now all non-Japanese women are spies, that's almost 1950's McCarthyism type of doctrine, it has no place anywhere. Then you have the State Secrets Bill coming December 10th, which means no one can speak out against the idiocy and tyranny the Japanese government and corporations do (corruption in companies could be a state secret if the company in question asks the government to make it one if they have connections).

Hey, anybody could steal. Even a gold medalist:

"Asian Games: Japanese swimmer kicked out of Games for stealing camera"

  • The Japanese Olympic Committee said Saturday swimmer Naoya Tomita has been expelled from Japan's team competing at the 17th Asian Games for a serious breach of discipline after admitting to stealing a camera belonging to a South Korean media organization.

He reportedly removed the telescopic camera lens and placed the camera in a bag before exiting the venue. The stolen camera reportedly cost 8 million won (about 830,000 yen or $7,625) and was discovered in the athletes' village.

In a confession Tomita, who placed fourth in the men's 100-meter breaststroke on Wednesday, said, "When I saw the camera, I really had to have it."

The JOC said Tomita, who won the gold medal in the men's 200 breaststroke at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian games, was caught on video surveillance stealing the camera.

Front row seats will usually go for a bit more than that.

There's a Love Live! concert early next year.

I paid 28,560 Yen for an Animelo Summer Live 2013 ticket on Yahoo auctions (reasonable but not premium seat).

Only few thousand Japanese fans pay actual production cost in millions (of dollars) and us westerners got away with only paying license, localization cost, and small royalty in thousands (of dollars). Those are huge difference. To be blunt, you have no position to talk about fairness.

Anyway, High price lifestyle choice is not much different from people in America who got into serious mortgage debt which they can't afford.

@Omiya
What's the typical ticket price for concert event? Or is this something that Japanese scalpers always pull off with "premium" stuff?
