K, never impressed me. All the hype, and it just fails to deliver.

I went to see it opening day here, and while I was stoked for the movie and did enjoy it, the one thing I wasn't expecting was spoiler[for it to apparently be expecting a sequel! Since they didn't resolve the problem and just opened up more issues to solve--all the people around me agreed it would probably have a sequel.] Can't say I'm unhappy, though, because I love the series!

Yes, I think a new series is in production right now.
Mikoto and Anna's voice actors were in Paris for the World Premiere and said something about a new adventure starting with this movie, to find the 8th King and see all the other Kings that we didn't see in the first series.

I really enjoyed the movie. Very good animation (except maybe the 3DCG used for the black sword at the beginning), very good music, and all the qualities of the first series Smile

I don't remember K having any significant amount of hype. I think it was way overshadowed by other anime that started that season like Psycho-Pass, Magi, Robotics;Notes maybe, perhaps Jormungand 2nd season. There was Blast of Tempest too, Bakuman 3rd season and many others. K was pretty insignificant.

It raised a few eyebrows at most. Maybe my memory deceives me.
