you can talk all the smack you want but one piece has been the #1 selling manga in japan for years. You think kids have spent millions of dollars buying these books? You are really ignorant about the anime industry.
I'm pretty sure most of One Piece's sales are from mainstream folks. They've got a lot of power, they just hardly ever use it.

oh wait, let me guess. you thought because attack on titan airs after your mom goes to bed at 11pm on 'toonami' that it was an adult title? I hate to tell you but attack on titan started in a shounen manga just like naruto.
The anime aired at 25:58, when good kids are in bed.

Also I want Morgiana from Magi.

She came to my mind. But, isn't her hair pink?

I have only watched the anime for 2 of those characters, Kuko and Shana. Love Kuko, especially in s2 of Nyaruko. I guess when she and Mahiro were pretending to date kind of sucked me in. Laughing

As for Shana, was a fan until I saw the 3rd season...that, IMO, was horrible, and ruined the whole franchise for me. Yeah, I'm not great when it comes to separating aspects of shows. It really is all or nothing for me...

A couple of characters that I'm currently enjoying are Erza Scarlet and Enju Aihara.

I find their lack of Asuka disturbing. Especially after Rei was the top blue-hair.

I, too, was surprised by the lack of Asuka. Technically, she might be more of a strawberry blonde, but I usually think of her as a redhead. I was kind of surprised to see Shana on there. I guess that franchise has more staying power than I thought it did.

My list (not that anyone asked) in the order they come to mind:

1. Lina Inverse (Slayers)
2. Noa Izumi (Patlabor)
3. Kei (Dirty Pair)
4. Kushina (Naruto)
5. Christina McKenzie (Gundam 0080)
6. Shiris (Record of Lodoss War)
7. Anne (Anne of Green Gables)

Definitely the darkhorse of the race. Who'd think an extra would be so popular?

Erza Scarlet, Ranma Saotome (girl type), Asuka Soryu, and Lina Inverse just to name a few that are more deserving than many of the characters on that list. In my opinion.

Agreed.

Erza's current too so it's crazy she's not there.

Glad Yoko's there. spoiler[Wish she had gotten more to do in the second half of GL.]

Yeah, this is the only thing I could think of that could account for Asuka not being there.

Thank you for thinking of these two ladies (although I'm used to seeing Christina's surname spelled as "Mackenzie" ^^; ). Hayashibara Megumi's probably voiced more than a few characters with red hair, but with her c.v., she's likely got nearly every hair color covered many times over. ^^ Izumi Noa's definitely my favorite anime red-haired woman.

I was going to mention those two if I'd gotten to the bottom of the thread without seeing their names.

North America Toonami, it's on at 11:30pm. I think that's what they were referring to.

Um...I hate to break it to you, but One Piece is insanely popular. A lot of the Japanese people I've met will mention One Piece as a manga they've read, and that includes people who don't generally read manga.

That doesn't change the fact it's a series in a children's manga magazine and on a children's Sunday morning cartoon block.

You'd think by it's large popularity that it'd dominate Comiket and other otaku markets, but it doesn't. It gets outdone by less popular shows all the time. Remember, this is a poll with otaku, not the average person who only watches daytime anime for kids. One Piece's sales mean jack squat when it comes to that.

Besides, some of these characters don't even have red hair, but orange/brown.
