As much as I consider Eva among the greatest anime/manga series, I think that it has/will have too many "official endings" (not counting series like Angelic Days): manga, TV, End of Eva, and Rebuild endings. I very much preferred the End of Eva ending and wish it had stayed that way.

You mean Anno's golden shower to all his adouring fans? Better bring your brolly for the last New Movie, I hear it's going to be a gusher. Laughing

Great, now they can get to work on a longer and manga version of the crossover with Transformers.

Let me guess, even though it'll be published in all those territories simultaneously, there's no special editions outside of Japan.

May I ask why it took so long for him to complete it? Did he have other obligations that prevented it from being completed on a schedule?

If you're talking about the manga as a whole, ever since the Evangelion TV series ended, Sadamoto has been busy working as a character designer (and occasionally as an animation director) on productions such as FLCL, .hack (the anime and the games), Aim for the Top 2: Diebuster, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children and the new Evangelion movies. The manga was pretty much a side project for him.

Now, if you're asking why the final volume is coming out almost a year and a half after the serialization ended... Beats me. Sure, there will be new story pages and Sadamoto might have done some tinkering with the ending, but that sure took a long time, even by his standards.

I have the 3 Eva 3 in 1's so are they going to bundle the two final volumes to match the rest of the combo volumes?

I know this isn't about the rebuild films but wtf is taking Funimation so long to release 3.33? It's like they completely forgot about it. That theatrical release ruined everything.

My goodness, a simultaneous release never thought I would see this for Evangelion.

That's what I bought after selling my singles (stupid expensive OOP volumes...) so I assume they'll just make it a 2-in-1 and maybe include the bonus chapter that I heard they were doing, or whatever that was. It'll definitely be smaller of course.

Ya ask me, the "theatrical release" was probably just an excuse to cover up the fact that the release had to be delayed. Maybe its an issue on Funimation's end, maybe the Japanese are holding it from them. Who knows at this point. If I've learned anything from Anime companies, its that "it will come eventually"

The good news is that the bookends are so tacky that don't feel the compulsive need to splurge on the special edition anymore.

Thanks, Kadokawa.
