Doesn't seem like a very complicated concept to adapt. And frankly, I'd rather see a live-action Noir than Kite.

I wish that this had found its footing, because I think having a live action anime series would work much better than having a crappy, 90 minute live action movie.

I think now that the Nikita TV series had finished, there would have been a good chance to catch the viewers of that with a similar show in Noir.
A shame, but I'd rather have nothing than have a train-wreck.

I was actually hoping this would start up soon because of Nikita finishing and wanting something similar.
I sort of saw this coming, unfortunately there are blocks just for mentioning it's an anime because there seem to be connotations that anime plots are just too hard to follow (at least among some of my friends who don't watch anime) but I was really hoping this project would find it's feet as Noir is a title that would adapt fantastically.
I hope this doesn't make potential investors and HBO warier over the Monster adaptation because I'm really looking forward to that (Watched a few episodes, waiting for the Australian complete collection, and while the story is fantastic I would rather watch a live action as the art doesn't really do a lot for me as an anime, fine as a manga though. Plus I love Del Toro for Pans' Labyrinth )

What a shock, another potential live action anime adaptation from Hollywood remains stuck in development hell.
I mean, geez, Noir's story isn't that difficult to adapt and with the similarities to Nikita, it would have made itself appealing to North American audiences but I guess that will be awhile before we get there.

Maybe someone actually watched the anime and figured out it wasn't that good. I tried to watch this when it first came out and could only do the first 2 DVDs. I really didn't like the main characters and there was way too much long pause and dramatic pans.
We don't need another Dragonball or Avatar people. I am also glad that Akira got the live action boot, Leonard was going to destroy that story.

If I remember right, they were planning on giving Mirelle a husband/ex/male-love-interest (can't remember which). I'm sure it could have still been a decent action show, but it wouldn't be Noir. I'm hoping that Monster comes through as if I remember right there was a lot of preparation already done for that one, and I think that could really succeed in a live action format.

I kind of figured it wasn't happening considering it was supposed to debut 2 years ago, and that time frame kind of came and left without a peep from production.
It is a shame though because something like Noir would've been pretty easy to pull off. There aren't any supernatural elements that would've upped costs, and the story is pretty straight forward and grounded. There's no reason it shouldn't have been able to turn out decently. Those citing it could've been another dragonball, have no idea what they're talking about. Dragonball could never have worked period. Noir was totally doable.
