It is pretty much Evil Dead levels of horror in that the manga simply becomes black comedy considering the situation.

I read quite a bit of this, but it's... uh... well, I had caught up to the serialization at the time and then decided not to care anymore about it. It's really not that great and it's just... sexual as all crap. Like, a cop that spoiler[rapes girls] and some trashy delinquent girls who act sexy... and for no reason other than to be "funny" or give fanservice. It's not in good taste at all.
Even the mystery isn't all that interesting. The one spoiler["nice" girl] and her secret is just... it came out of nowhere... :/ |

You mean accurate as to what might happen in a post-apocolyptic scenario? I can see why you might not like it - but it's not like the actions of the characters don't make sense within the context of the story. I think that your accusations are kinda misplaced - the series has a fanservice character (go figure, it's a manga) and a character which is a complete bastard. The series has no more or less sexual content than any other series of the same genre - so don't make out that it does. As I said, you're free to dislike the series, but many of your complaints are personal taste rather than problems with the story itself. |

I look at that cover & I think about Tim Burton for some reason.

Reminds me of warpedwasp's review on myanimelist, wouldn't be surprised if it's the same person. Yeah most people tend to forget this when they openly state something or go to review something.
Maybe inspired but a ripoff is quite the milestone, considering the ultra violence, magical girl epidemic and putting a different focus on the ecchi entirely. Last edited by StormVanguard on Tue Jan 21, 2014 6:08 pm; edited 2 times in total |

I read a bit of it before, and I liked it. It's pretty clearly a Highschool of the Dead ripoff, with a small cast of characters surviving in a post apocalyptic setting, with the added threat of the "zombies" having magical powers.
Later developments won me over, but the first volume or so isn't going to win anyone over, if you're not already disposed to liking it. I'm picking it up for sure though. |

But I recognize that it's my personal taste. I just can't get past the whole idea that it's not horror for horror's sake, but exploitative horror. That said, I don't find it realistic. People let loose when drastic things like this come up, but the characters are all clearly stereotypes, or they're revealed to be the exact opposite of their stereotype without dropping a single hint to the reader beforehand. The way those scenes are written are for obvious fanservice purposes. I certainly wouldn't say no one should read it. I have nothing against exploitative stories existing and people enjoying them, nor do I think they're any less worthy than something more suited to my own tastes. I'm just expressing my own frustration at what it did. =P And no, I'm not that person you mentioned. I'm not echoing anyone else's views of it, either, since I've never talked about it with anyone else or seen any other mention of it anywhere until now. I just happened to catch its name on a list of "Magical Girl" series and checked it out. |
