I wonder why nobody in NA can get the license to gundam. Sunrise is also to blame, they could at least do what aniplex does and make their titles available in Japanese with subs

Quite a few Gundam titles have already been translated by Bandai NA. I think they may have used those old DVD subs in the Blu-Ray remasters, either that or they're incredibly similar.
