I just saw (part) of a video this morning complaining about the whole "Dina/Mighty Number 9" fiasco--as if one person on the team could somehow ruin a game with her "social agenda". Ugh.
Focusing on video games, why the high-flying Hades is her lack of having played Mega Man an issue? There has to have been someone who worked on Bayonetta who never played Devil May Cry. Someone who worked on Pokémon probably never played any of the earlier games. Heck, the creator of Katamari Damacy admitted to barely having time to play games in an old interview with EGM. This whole "fandom" thing is starting to sound like something I don't want anything to do with. I'm gonna go lock myself in my room and not tell anybody about anything I like. |

Urgh. I had no idea about this Mighty No. 9 drama; now that I looked into it, I wish I still hadn't. Such stupidity.
And as a community manager, no less! I mean, she was listed as one of the designers, but clearly comm. managing is her focus. Yet apparently that's enough to ruin the game.
Ditto. |

Why did I have a smell that "feminism" was going to pop up. Let's not hope this doesn't turn into another Sar--- what's that girls name again...who did a Kicstarter and claimed to play so games. Oh right... that one.
I just hope that the game turns out good. Why is there soooooo much drama. Why can't we just have nice things. Now if this was a case of the game getting dropped then folks would have a reason to be mad. Let's hope 2014 is good and Might 9 lives up to expectations. |

On Darkstalkers- It really is a shame the series won't get a new installment, as all it seems to be known for are the females (which considering it started as an attempt to make a licensed Universal Monsters game, does that mean Morrigan was originally Elvira?). But Capcom is such a mess I won't be surprised if all we get.is more SG the same way Sega seems incapable of making games without that obnoxious hedgehog.
On Mighty #9- Feminists, social justice warriors, etc have a history of targeting games and gamers, some with good cause, and some without. Panic is unfortunate and likely unfounded, but there's a precedent. Basically, this is why we can't have nice things. It'd be a shame if this girl ends up having the game losing all its funding. |

I actually got Attack of the Friday Monsters recently myself, in part because it's on sale right now in the eShop for $5 instead of $8. I thought it was alright, nothing I'd write home about, but a decent diversion.
I rented Pandora's Tower and was kind of annoyed at the whole timer thing, so didn't get too far. Yay, a new Tales game! I just keep coming back to those damn things! I got Xillia at Gamestop on Black Friday for $20 (though haven't really gotten to play it much yet). Those damn things are like crack to me. I'm glad that Japan is sticking with the PS3 though. Come to think of it, a lot of the best PS2 RPGs came out after the PS3's release (so... Persona 3 and 4), and I'm super happy Persona 5 is PS3 too! Japan just saves all the best stuff for when the newest console is released and I couldn't be happier! Only makes me more glad I got a PS3 on Black Friday! Any opinions on Tales of Graces f? The reason I got Xillia and not Graces f is because Xillia was $20, and Graces f was $45. Should I wait for a price drop, or is it totally worth the $45? |

It's quite longer than Xillia, and the battle system is a tad more...active-reactionary? (I wouldn't say "better" or "worse" -- they're different, is all). The story is more lighthearted. Whether it's genuinely good is up to a lot of heated debate (I think it's pretty fun myself). Hm...I'd expect it to be cheaper than $45 at this point, but I don't know if it'll suffer another price drop, so...maybe? I think I'd expect a price drop to happen around the time of Symphonia Chronicles' release, but that's just a guess. |

Tales of Zestiria: I have a very good feeling about this Tales. Plus, dragons! Dragons with plot relevance, in a Tales game! Yes! I look forward to more reveals as time goes on. I wonder if one of the party members will be a dragon (that would make my day).
Mighty No. 9: This is why I don't consider myself part of a so-called "fandom" in any circle. People just overreact to everything, no matter what it is. The Mario, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Smash Bros and Fire Emblem crowds are some of the worst. Top Five Overlooked Games of 2013: And now for some fun. XD *Rune Factory 4:
What? Are you being speciesist now Todd, after that pretty little rebuking you gave the Mighty No. 9 fandom about sexism? I refuse to play Rune Factory 4 because it only caters to human marriages, and you support that! I'm returning my copy and getting a refund! XD *Pandora's Tower:
What glitch is that? *Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale: With the release of the new Godzilla flick, this game would be a good fit to pass the time until then. *Darkstalkers Resurrection: I would have loved to see Lilith in more crossover RPGs and fighters (strange she got into Namco x Capcom and Cross Edge, but not Project X Zone?) and Bishamon appear in anything else at all. Same goes for Jon Talbain. Seems they only pull out Morrigan, Felicia, Demitri, Jedah and occasionally Lei Lei for outside appearances. The rest of the cast just gets shafted. I mean, has Victor appeared in literally anything else substantial? Guess Frankenstein's monster isn't popular anymore, and neither is the franchise. |

I'm... Really bothered by all the people writing off everyone's complaints about the Mighty No. 9 issue the same way they wrote off incredibly legitimate claims against Sarkeesian and her credibility as a 'journalist' and 'activist'. It's disgusting how often people just assume they know what the problem is and fail to inform themselves on the topic and just make their thoughts on topics like these mirror someone else's thoughts and loose their identity in an attempt to feel like they have some nonsensical feeling of 'belonging' to a set of ideals or a similar mindset of others... So here, let me offer people the chance to inform themselves, because when I did, I had a better grasp of the situation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXDSfUJBCj0 While this video doesn't COMPLETELY stay unslanted in its tone and sense of criticism, damn it if it doesn't inform a lot about what it has to say. Seriously people, give this video a watch before you write off the whole Dina issue as 'muh feminism' or something similar. I'm not saying those aren't complaints coming up, but there are plenty of other problems with Dina and HER credibility as the community manager. Sure would be nice if this push for equality in the gaming industry and community wasn't being spear headed by such radical, unprofessional, ill intentioned and manipulative people, because maybe then we could have a reasonable discussion here. But hey, what do I know? I'm just some dude on the internet who hates most 'activists' in the gaming community in general and don't get picky and target one group based on race or gender or sexual orientation or decisions in their life, I just hate them for being shitty people and pretending they're not total shitbags. Dina's definitely not a total shitbag though, she's just extremely unprofessional and probably should be more heavily monitored from now on, based on her behavior concerning what she did to her twitter and how she reacted, not because of her values. Judge people by what they do IMHO. |

Yeah... no. None of this would of come up if her feminist views weren't mentioned.
This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Christ, and I thought it was stupid and shameful when people attacked the Red Cross over their suggestions on depicting war crimes in shooters. Jesus. Not every criticism about games is a Jack Thompson/Joe Lieberman style attempt at attacking and restricting the industry. |

I will reserve my judgement on Comtech's hiring choices after I see the final product of the game itself. This is why I don't use kickstarter unless its something that won't be released elsewhere (like anime news nina hardcover for example- you know what you are getting) If it turns out to be a good game , then I will get it, but I can't stand the waiting and ambiguity. I'm STILL waiting for orange crows

The Mighty No.9 reminds of me of why I quit going to gaming news sites completely--the gaming fandom is one of the most abhorrent, disgusting, creepy, and just plain awful wreteched hives when it comes to fandoms, and I simply don't want to deal with it.
I feel that the intense backlash is actually proof that the a person I disagree with politically types are losing however--they're scared, and fear turns to rage quickly. Before they were so assured of their privileged positions that they found even getting mad at any feminist efforts to be beneath them, but now they're legit terrified of the possibility of losing their privilege (as most of them are pathetic people who hold on to their privilege as it's the only way they have for denying their own patheticness) so they're freaking out and going on the defensive. Hopefully they'll lose. Hopefully. |

Might I suggest you purchase Fire Emblem: Awakening for the 3DS if you have not already? That game features not one, not two, but THREE marriageable dragons! And for anyone wondering, I am 100% serious about that. (The dragons can take human form, but still...) |

Man, as an RPG fan, the waifu simulations of these games sure sure seem to be a strangely pleasant icing on the cake. Guess if I ever get a RF4 and Awakening for a 3DS, I'll be balancing time between quite a few waifu in my hands, eh? With fighting games being Kind of a Big Deal in The X Button, I'm a bit surprised that I saw nothing said about the trailer debut of Tekken's new vampire girl character, and how through her fights, she goes through... er, a Mammary Metamorphosis. You so cray-cray, Namco Bandai! |
