I disagree with the assessment of the third case. The high school turnabout constantly kept me in the dark on the culprit’s identity and how the murder occurred. It also portrayed the “dark age of the law” very well via the two opposite ideologies the school teaches. I therefore didn’t mind the forced teenager’s drama.
I actually thought the second case was tediously boring since the player already knew who did it and the abundance of Japanese folklore and mythology wasn’t to my liking.
What seemed to be lacking in the whole game is the emphasis on motive. It focused mostly on opportunity, events, possibilities of scenario’s and circumstantial and decisive evidence. The motive angle could’ve been used a lot more.

I loved the third case... It had everything I'd want. Cute girls, high school setting, power of friendship, reverse trap, etc. Its pretty much everything I like out of anime stuff. I can understand why it would turn off some people though.

I still have to play more of the series. I played most of the first game save for the bonus case at the end, but the rest of them I just still have sitting unplayed on my shelf.

I did like the game and how the "Dark Age of Law" is enforced but the main problem I felt is some of the returning characters felt forced (and the second and third case you can skip). However, I will say that Apollo gets some much needed character development as I was worried that he would be a copy/paste of Phoenix while Phoenix kept his "mentor" role from the 4th game.

How you can think the third case is that bad completely baffles me, not only did it do a great job of setting up the whole "dark age of the law" theme, but you make it sound like the "high school" (they're in a law school but whatever) drama is like a light novel, it centers around unbreakable friendship and facing your true self and feelings, it's actually very sweet

Honestly, the most baffling part of the third case was the concept of the school itself--it *is* a high school (or at least, has high school-aged students), and not only are there courses set up for training prosecutors and defense attorneys, there's also a third, separate set of courses...for training judges.
Think about that for a minute.

Nope, I don't see it. You have to look at it this way, it's a Japanese fictional high school, anything can happen.
What I hated the most was the second cases spoiler at the beginning and how the game gave you answers more frequently. Otherwise, another excellent digital story. Can't wait for more (especially with the upcoming DLC)!

PW5 was just more of the same to me, but it was a same that I wanted more of, so yay.

You just made me sad, because the final case in PW1 is amazing! D: Best one in the game, imo, and tied for my favorite case in the entire series. Also, PW1 Ema was my favorite sidekick. Science!
