Probably nothing more than a short animation but this new marketing approach from Microsoft is totally out of left field.

The voice actor is Valerie from Asian Pop Collective, she was a member of Sea*A and she's MC for AFA's WOW JAPAN show on YouTube.

And yet not the most random anime related thing I have seen. I recently watched Neptune which had game consoles having yuri time, and I unlike most geeks have no problem with IE.

I might guess by the names in the credits that the staff were not Japanese. I had a problem with the character model being a bit inconsistent in a few shots, but in general it looked pretty nice.

I spy a picture of Nanami Madobe on the ruined building in the first few seconds.

I don't know about the design of IE-tan. The blue colors used seemed too vibrant and have too much of a translucent/reflective effect to them. This is inconsistent with the more subdued and opaque color scheme of Windos 8/8.1 and more in line with the Aero themes of Vista/7. I would've thought the former is what they'd be promoting.

Yea I do think this is entirely produced in Singapore, but I could be wrong. Also the voice actress is a Singaporean who picked up Japanese. I've actually seen her in RL as she was my junior in college.

And not that we're accusing you of being anime-illiterate, MS, but could you copy Sailor Moon's power-up scene a little more closely? Rolling Eyes

Is this Microsofts attempt at trying to win over the East?
