"Hey, don't argue about this anymore, and also you're wrong, but I won't get into why." Makes total sense. |

So it's looking like the show to beat for the best first episode of the season is the one that's actually an ONA from two years ago and only makes the barest of sense.
Kyoukai no Kanata... well, it had some pretty gorgeous scenes, particularly that chase around the middle. But other than that it was disappointing and not very impressive. It's a pretty generic premise, even if we haven't necessarily seen it a whole lot lately. The execution was pretty bland other than animation and Mirai being cute. I thought she was going to be the lead character though, but no, of course we can't have that. Gotta have male leads in these kinds of shows. And her defining personality traits are "clumsy" and "shy/socially awkward". eeeeeeehhhh. Though I guess it's a testament to KyoAni's ability that I still want to keep watching this. Coppelion was okay, I guess. Interesting premise and possibilities, but I could barely remember the girls' names by the end of the episode and didn't really give a damn about any of them, and I'm predisposed to like cute girls. Oh, and Miss Monochrome. There was one amusing joke in it. Will probably watch another ep or two since it's only 4 minutes long and it's not like I have much better to watch on the day it comes out. My main hopes for further shows that are above "okay" at this point are Kill La Kill and Galilei Donna. Maybe Non Non Biyori. I'm *hoping* Outbreak Company will be solidly entertaining based purely on the fact that the LN covers attracted my attention long before the anime was announced; I've made it a point to not actually learn anything about it and my *expectations* are low. I expect to be dropping most of the rest within an episode or two. |

After season after season of zac doing his joke reviews of mainly male oriented romance and fan service shows, I would really like him to do one that is aimed at females and deserves it diabolik lovers. Everyone passed on brothers conflict last season so this time please zac do a review of diabolik lovers.

People need to stop asking about Diabolik Lovers. It's not part of the season, so it isn't going to get done. We've never made exceptions on these off-season starts before.
Oh, and penguintruth: You were massively stretching on your argument, to the point of absurdity, and everyone but you seems to recognize that. |

Even if the contributors were to change their guidelines, I can't imagine anything good coming from a preview about Diabolik Lovers. At best it would be a lot of posts discussing how absolutely gross the first episode is, and at worst spoiler[it would spawn an argument about rape.]
As for the season so far. Coppelion has my curiosity, but hasn't yet grabbed my interest. Beyond the Boundary has the potential to be an enjoyable enough series, but some of that dialogue was pretty bad. I've never met anybody, be they literature fanatics or not, have a discussion framed entirely like their life was the plot of a book, much less an argument. |

As you should clearly see, there is no basic KyoAni character design. |

So I take it I'm the only one liking Kyoukai no Kanata? While I'm not completely happy with how they're using Mirai who could be so freaking baddass and turned out to be cutesy-clumsy-whatever, I kind of like the narrating and storytelling. And of course, it looks gorgeous. Looking forward to meeting Scarf-guy next week.
Coppellion on the other hand... the animation is really rough and while I didn't mind GoHands's blue hues in K -they kind of worked with the story- here they seem awfully off. I don't know if it was a problem with my internet connection, but some parts seemed very clunkily animated. I'm going to give it a couple more episodes but I'm not really feeling it with this one yet. |

I thought Kyoukai had a decent introductory episode. It seemed to flow alright and introduced a few of the core characters and set up the initial/basic conflict of Mirai being in danger due to her cursed blood and that. It was satifactory but not much beyond that. Introductory episodes are typically the worst anyway, now KyoAni will have more legroom per se when it comes to their adaptive modifications and/or enhancements. Definitely way too early to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down overall, but some foundation was laid at least.
Whereas in Coppelion I'm still wondering what in the world is going on and why 1 of the 3 girls seems so inept/incompetent at performing her singular duty which she was literally created to accomplish. But at least it has scenery porn to keep me going for another 2 episodes at least. |

Coppelion... I would hate to be one of the person responsible for the art of this show. You put so much energy and a good amount of creativity into making something that's at least a bit out there, just to have them slap you with main character that are cliche high school girls in a setting where using high school girl is one of the worst possible idea, must be soul crushing.

I too was annoyed by Kana Hanazawa's character but I've seen so much worse it doesn't particularly bother me, but the apparent lack of preparation from the girls in general was appalling. What are they doing in a dangerous contaminated area populated by god-knows-what being so scantily armed? The one thing I sort of enjoyed -as the language freak that I am- is the slang-ish speech pattern of the boss girl

I agree that the show is superficial. That doesn't mean your argument isn't. |

Well, Kyousogiga was nearly exactly the same as the original OVA, but in better quality and with small changes. Mostly some streamlining, to make way for the OP and ED, I guess. It was still confusing as all hell, though. Since it's supposed to have the background and context filled in later, I'll give it a 4/5 for style.

I think I have been scared for life... how in the *&^# is diabolik lovers supposed to be entertaining to someone. setting aside the issue of how the main character (who actually seemed to be decent) ended up in the situation, The only person who says anything in the show how does not make me want to throw up is the oldest (orange hair) brother. and he has the least amount of lines out of any of them. Because he is the only one that does not A) treat her like an object B) only talk down to her C) call her my little B)*&^ D) tell people to not molest and sexually assault people in public but to use their room instead.
I try to give all show atleast 24 minutes before writing it off but I can't even do that with this show. I find it revolting that this girl is supposed to fall in love with basically the people who kidnapped her. I take back what I said Please DO NOT REVIEW that show it is something I would not wish on someone I disliked let alone people I hold in high regard. that said I would be curious how zac would react since it is basically a gender flopped version of the intended audience that Zack hated and ranted about in future diary (mirai nekki). I'm sorry, I haven't watched Diabolik Lovers (nor ever plan to) but how is it "a gender flopped version of the rape in Mirai Nikki"? There's literally nothing in commong between the two, and even if there were, in both cases the female is being abused by the male, there's seriously no gender swap whatsoever. I'd even say DL's case is worse from certain point of view since the abuse the girl receives is supposed to be some sort of romantic shit that the girl -and the female audience- is supposed to enjoy (from what I read in a review of the original game), but then again, I haven't watched it, so what do I know. |
