It's not an article, it's a thread in their anime forum (that I can't link to from where I am currently), and the origin of the rumor's basis is the fact that 4Kids has pretty much wiped out all signs of One Piece on their 4kids.tv website, coupled with a posting on Arlong Park's forum (starting with the third post from the top) about someone who allegedly spoke to industry people at Anime Expo and called Toei's LA office. The speculation builds from there. |

I don't see it coming back, and like always, if it was true then ANN would get word of and announce it. Most of us were all scarred by the 4kids version anyways.

I read this on Arlong park a few weeks ago. It's nice to know that Toei wants to continue One Piece and is mad about what 4kids did. I can see One Piece coming back and actually doing well, if it happened to Dragon Ball Z it can happen to One Piece. I don't even care if they have to change the name to One Piece:uncut or something like that. All Toonami would have to do is show the new commercial for it a lot and do like an hour premire.. Then when it comes on and starts playing the second japanese opening or third (whatever one it would be on) people would keep watching to see the song, then when they hear the new voices and the japanese music it should take off. I was thinking that Toonami should maybe aid another company in buying the rights to One piece if another company is a little shaky about it since Toonami wants a nice One Piece dub too. I think if enough of us send letters to the other anime companies and Toei One Piece might just be saved.

Good thing I only saw fansubs and the Odex English dub. I'd love to see One Piece come back, but with a GOOD English dub (If you watch the Odex dub, the voices there are no better than 4Shits, but then again, Odex doesn't take shounen anime and butcher it to hell). Maybe Viz, FUNimation, ADV, Geneon, or Bandai might be up for it. |

Actually, I believe this rumor. We just won't post about it until it's substantiated. Let me make myself clear, I believe that Toei wants to see the release continue. There's nothing to indicate that there are active plans. -t |

I do not see the good in bringing its back they bascially alienate the entire fanbase with that crappy dub 4kids made

I can see One Piece coming back but not any time soon. The damage done to the market by 4Kids will have lasting effect and impression on viewers new to it. All in all it'll probably take another a year or 2 before I can see it coming back on air in America and probably a month+ later up here in Canada (maybe start it up again at the same time like with Naruto). At the moment though it won't be returning anytime soon but it is nice to hear that there is an attempt to bring it back, especially now that I've been reading the manga.

actually, starting tonight i think, One Piece will have new episodes airing on Toonami. same VAs, but i can't be sure of the 4Kids part because they could have hired the same VA's but who knows

Those aren't really new eps. They were simply aired in Britain and Australia and didn't make it here yet. |

Well hell, I want to see it come back as much as any OP fan would. I watched the original uncut version in Japan. My thing is if it were to come back, whoever gets it is GOING to have to start over. So much stuff was screwed up when 4kids released it. And come up with a better theme song too, that rap was just horrible. Is there some kind of link that indicates what Toei's thoughts were on the 4kids version and the outcome of it? |

I think a way to get the One Piece anime the popularity outside Japan it deserves could lie in the movies. Perhaps VIZ could license the movies, and run some big fancy campaign for them in US Shonen Jump. Maybe the Jump's could come with free DVDs which have a trailer for the movie on them, or something, or 'secret codes' to get to a page on the website with a trailer, to get people interested. If the movies are dubbed good (ie nothing cut out and with a subbed version included) then people will be able to see that One Piece is not the piece of crap 4kids made it out to be. If there's enough interest in the movies, they might then be ready to take on the series again.

I heard the rumors that it was coming back to. I love this anime cause it is really funny. All I have to say is that I hope the rumors are true.
