What, no Hayate? Still, a good list. I'd have put Sebastian higher though.

Yeah, I was also expecting Hayate too, lol. :3

Also, what about the Fate series "Servants" too, do they count? One of them could have been in the list too, but alas, it wasn't meant to be, lol. :3

What the heck? I thought people hated Eva 3.0.

As far as Miyazaki's films, I voted for Castle of Cagliostro. The other few films I have watched from him have bored me. Isao Takahata is the real genius at Studio Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki is becoming more overrated in my eyes with every film from him that I watch.

Where the heck is Haji, from Blood+? He should be number one!

Mmm, forgot all about Haji. He's dreamy, especially with Crispin Freeman's whispery voice on him. I wouldn't put him at number one, but I would put him in the ranking. Sadly I don't recognize anyone from this list.

Miyazaki movie? I love Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo, but I picked Howl.

And I picked Kick-Heart because it's the only one I've seen of last week's survey. Like angelmcazares said, I thought most people were...divided, to put it lightly, about Rebuild 3.0. Did the silent majority actually love it?

YES. I knew that I was missing someone, but couldn't think of who it was until I saw your post.

Does "Whispers of the Heart" count as a Miyazaki movie? (the ANN encyclopedia has two directors listed - Miyazaki is one of them) That's my favorite, with Kiki's Delivery Service at a close second. We went to the Ghibli museum in Mitaka a few years ago and my favorite part was flipping through the storyboards. I ended up buying the set for Whispers of the Heart and an artbook for Kiki's Delivery Service (I love the town especially).

I definitely have to say Haji was my favorite servant character, but it was interesting seeing some of the choices on this list. Keep up the great work Lynzee!

Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu.

I don't think Lava counts - he is at least partially coerced by Miyu. spoiler[IIRC she drank his blood and made him her servant and there is an arc where he is released from her control - but it's been a while since I read the manga.]

As for the poll, this was an incredibly easy one. Kiki's Delivery Service is not only my favourite Miyazaki film, but my favourite film full stop. I just can't decide whether I prefer the Japanese or English version - I think the English voice cast did an excellent job.

Chose Totoro myself, mostly because it is my favorite, even after all these other movies. It's also the first Ghibli movie I ever watched, as a VHS recording from a Swedish TV channel with a pretty damn good Swedish dub to boot. (Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso and Spirited Away comes on a close second, third and fourth respectively.)

It was a difficult choice but I voted for Princess Mononoke as its one of those films I can stick on no matter what mood I am in.

Gokudera from Reborn would have been a good fit in this list, he may not be a servent as such but his devotion to Tsuna goes far beyond that of most characters.

Poor Haji, getting overlooked like that. Don't you worry, though, that's not a slight on your service to Saya.

Spirited Away was my re-introduction to anime as an adult, and for a long time was my favorite. But it is Howl's Moving Castle that I watch again and again. I didn't much care for it at first, since I was looking for the book (by Diana Wynne Jones) in the film and not finding it, but I have come to love it for the different thing it is. It has gotten me through some difficult times. The English dub is very good, and I am not at all a dub snob, but now I only watch the sub version. Takuya Kimura's Howl matches the beauty - and timidity - of the character in a way that Christian Bale's does not.

Servants - If this were not anime only, it would have to be Riff of Count Cain / God Child.

As for the new releases, I think a better question may have "Which of these have you seen?"

I can see Cicada from Last Exile, but I think there should be some mention of Lucciola, too, especially considering his actions at the end of the series.

Vampire Princess Miyu's Larva is, indeed, a good suggestion.

Totally agree with Lucciola. Honestly I think they should have traded places on this list.

I love Pandora Hearts, and I'm up to date on the manga, so the comment about Gil's devotion being a result of certain circumstances was curious to me. I wonder what the column writer was talking about. The only circumstances I can think of would actually work against his devotion to Oz, not in favor of it...

Also, if this wasn't an anime-only list, Riff from Cain Saga / Godchild totally would have been on there.

No Walter Dornez from Hellsing? What about the 1945 version? He's had the rare position of being young, handsome and dashing and older, mature, handsome and dashing.
