Actually, Armada premiered in the US first before Japan, by about 4 or so months, in fact.

I'm not much of a Transformers fan--in fact, Armada was really my introduction to the franchise. Based on what I've read about it, I doubt it'd hold up very well. It would be neat to have the Japanese version, to see how bad the translation really was, but I doubt that'll happen.
I think Animated'll be different though, so this is good news. Here's hoping it's widescreen.

Well, I'll be picking these up!
But ANN, you forgot to mention that Shout! also released Transformers: Headmasters, Transformers: Super-God Masterforce, and Transformers: Victory on DVD.

Goody. We get one of the best TF shows (Animated) with the most hated TF trilogy... You know, before Michael Bay came along.

I had a feeling that Shout Factory would license more Transformer titles. I was expecting Beast Machines to get re-licensed since the DVD set for that is a little scarce. But the four titles they did license are cool. I know Beast Machines wasn't as good as Beast Wars, but it did had some good moments even though it had a lot of "what worked and what didn't work" moments. But hey it's proof that every franchise has its pros and cons.

A little behind on this was announced like a week ago. I'm glad that these are coming out on dvd again since I missed the Armada release. Animated first two seasons were only released on dvd. I'm glad season 3 finally getting a release. Only leaves Transformers Robots In Disguise as the only TF series released here on dvd. Some have speculated that disney still got the rights to that one. I wish they release Beast Wars II and Neo over here too. Like the release of Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory.

Animated is the only relevant one here. The rest are terrible.

Guess this means Sony BMG still has the license to the '86 movie.
Also kinda wish that Shout Factory would license that Scramble City OVA with the actual japanese audio. Unlike Sony's release of it without any audio beside a commentary track.

Nice to know that Armada and Cybertron will be released on DVD, but knowing Shout! Factory...*le sigh*

Shout Factory didn't dub the Japanese G1 series', so boo on that. But hey, Animated was great, so I'm all for that getting released.

You mean I'll be able to buy Armada and Cybertron without it costing me an arm and a leg to go along with my Energon boxset?
Fantastic.

I'm not sure if it would have been worth it, money-wise, to dub a series that old.
But hey, the Japanese version isn't bad!

I'd be interested in getting Armada if it had the Japanese dub, but I highly doubt they'll include it.

There's a fourth movie coming in June and more after that so AEC still keeps that honor.

You don't really want that (for Headmasters anyway). Much of the cast is either dead, retired, or out of their budget. Hearing returning charactes without their original voices just wouldn't sound right.

I think the most Shout! Factory said about dubs for the Takara shows was that they tried to include the (horrible) dubs from Hong Kong that were on the UK DVDs, but Hasbro apparently found them so bad that they didn't want them included... Even though they are loved because of how bad they are.
