Yeah, I thought you guys would figure it out very quickly with that hint. I was going to say had a very large impact on Tohru's life, instead of died while young, but that would have left it waaaayyyy open, cuase there's a lot of characters in the series that have done that.
BTW here's a listing of who we have talked about for the past few weeks:
- Dec 2-9: Momiji
- Dec 9-16: Mayu
- Dec 16-23: Ayame
- Dec 23-30: Kisa
So I'll make the official announcement tonight as usual, and if anybody doesn't reply to the thread I'll just edit this post. Better hurry up and state your opinion LydiaDianne!!!

I hear and obey!
I love Kisa-chan! She really is adorable. In the anime, I just loved how when she first came to Shigure's house, Tohru couldn't walk past her without a "fan-girl squee" and give Kisa hugs and kisses. Which was something that Kisa really needed at that time. I also think that she needed Shigure's humor, Yuki and Haru's understanding of what she went through, along with Kyo's rough sympathy.
Her ties with her mother and with Hiro are good as well. I agreed with whoever said that they didn't like her mother at first with the quasi-guilt-trip she seemed to lay on Kisa. But, I too, in getting further into the anime and the manga, grew to like her mother. Hiro, well, he's needs a good bop on the head every now and then but he's a good kid too. He just really wants to protect Kisa and is very frustrated with not being big and/or strong enough to do so.
I also think that Kisa is one of those quietly stubborn types. She may not say much, but if she dicides on something, I doubt very much you will get her to change her mind.
I'm looking forward to seeing her grow more as the series progresses from where I'm at now. (vol. 15)

And now for the official announcement: Welcome to Honda Katsuya week!!
Although his time in Fruits Basket is a very short one, he is one who still has a very big impact on Tohru's life, as well as Kyoko's. If it were not for Honda Katsuya, we wouldn't have Tohru.
Related Charaters:
- Kyoko
- Grandpa Honda
- The Honda Family
- Tohru
Topics of Interest:
- How he met Kyoko
- His thoughts on teaching
- His attitude towards Kyoko's parents
Enjoy everybody, I know that this will be a fun year, and while I'm at it, enjoy the rest of 2006.

Honda Katsuya as we all know, is the husband of Kyoko and Tohru's dad. This is the man who loved and helped Kyoko go through her hardships eventhough she was a member of some gangter. He met Kyoko in the middle school that she was attending, where he was a teacher. When they first met, Katsuya was so calm and kept asking Kyoko why she's always so angry at everything. His response to her outbursts were everything that she's been denying herself and what she truly wanted, to be surrounded by loving family and to have a purposeful life. When Katsuya was first introduced, i cannot help but also think like Kyoko, that he is one weird character who would be unfazed by Kyoko's violent character and behaviour.
This man is amazing by accepting Kyoko the way she was and i really admire his patience and understanding (but that still doesn't change my opinion on his weird-ness =p)

Hmmmm........... Honda Katsuya....This character is more present than any other character in the manga though he died while still young. I mean the impact that he had upon Kyoko's life and later on on Tohru's is so huge that some times I'm wondering if he isn't more real and alive than one would have expected. The way he succeeds in creating this unique bond between him an Kyoko and later on with his daughter though at an age that she wouldn't have realised such a thing makes me think that he was a special character and therefore a special man in the lives of these two women.
I wouldn't categorise him as weird, cerulean, more like special. He was a special character as I said above and I enjoyed very much his story with Kyoko. Now I enjoyed very much this specialness of his especially because he was capable of penetrate Kyoko's soul and see deeper than the other ones. Plus he was capable of rescuing her from her house of torment (just like most of the characters, Kyoko's parents suck big time - sorry for the word, just couldn't help myself. )
Nice choice, fighterholic....
In case I can't come today here, cause there's a party going on later I just want to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and may you all be happy! Enjoy everything as well in 2007!

Honda Katsuya, a man of mysterious actions, like Shigure in a way. Yet a very gentle and forgiving man, and just seeming to know what is going on in Kyoko's heart. The way he just hits that problem makes me feel that we could probably use some Honda Katsuyas around here The words he says to Kyoko are such: "Choose me, Kyoko." Just the expression on his face when he said made him look like a bad-a** dude. That's what you call kakkoii.
But he really filled that void in Kyoko's life. Without him she would have fallen, and would have continued to be a rebel of society, and we wouldn't have Tohru as well. In fact, Kyoko was so attached to him that when she died, she was just devestated beyond belief, and was just out of conciousness for days. Not even thinking about her daughter that was walking around. Even though it is sad for Kyoko to have died as well, she was finally reunited with Katsuya, in the form of her young self again.

Well, I can't say much about Katsuya as I haven't "met" him yet, but I do have something to say about his sister.
If that bitch, and her family of scum suckers, had AT ANY TIME met with and got to know Tohru, the modderpockers would have KNOWN that there was no need to investigate her. So it is VERY obvious that they didn't think twice about Tohru after her father died...if even before.

A Happy New Year to everybody who has helped this thread become what it is today. Hopefully in 3 or 4 months this thread will become the ultimate power of the Manga Forum.
I wonder if Katsuya knew the situation when he got down with whatever it was that killed him. Had he taken extra measures he probably would still be alive. He was looking forward to giving Tohru a sibling. On second note Kyoko and Tohru helped him get somewhat closer to his dad, because it looks like they weren't talking at all before he and Kyoko got together.

Meh, it's the most powerful non-sticky of the manga forum right now, but if we go posting, we can pass the manga introductions sticky and make it the biggest thread entirely. So how did everybody celebrate their New Year?
[End OT] The interest that Katsuya took in Kyoko was something. Here was a violent and rebellious girl who was about ready to wreak havoc on the desk or hurt somebody, yet he calmed and took her heart. But the main factor was that here he was 23, and she was 15, meaning there are no limitations to love.

Was she 15?! I actually never thought that the age difference is so big between them.....They are an interesting couple.... She was right then when saying that Katsuya is not good for being a teacher.
Btw, he didn't get along very well with his father, did he? I mean, I remember there were some lines in which he said that he and his father are arguing less since Katsuya's mom died. I wonder which were the actual problems between those two - cause when Katsuya introduces Kyoko to his father, he seems actually to be very pleased about it.And his father was a teacher also.

Katsuya said that he didn't want to use his father's light to get him to someplace successful. He felt that would rather use his own methods to reach success. It's funny how the image of his dad that he gave Kyoko was different than what his dad really was. But is it that Katsuya decided to distance himself from his father? And did his dad try to make good relations with his son? Or were their personalities alike in that they just didn't want to think about it?
