It's been announced in Shounen Jump this week that the Naruto anime will be renamed to Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles when Part II of the series begins early next year.
The creators of the anime state in the announcement that the name change is attributed to the recent revelation in the manga storyline that spoiler[Naruto's chakra element is Wind]. For the past year and a half the Naruto anime has been airing filler episodes in order to compensate for the gap closing up between it and the manga storyline. The date set for the new episodes, along with the name change, is slated for Spring '07... which is roughly Febuary in Japan's television year. It was also announced that a new Naruto card game, featuring the Part II cast, and complete with a new set of rules are to be released to coincide with the new season. A new video game, Naruto: Narutimate Accel, will also be released... again featuring the Part II cast. Good news for fans of the series, no doubt.

Have you bought issue 52 yet?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Also, it's my 700th post!
Hm, well this is indeed an interesting piece of news. "Hurricane Chronicles". It sounds catchy, but there's really no point in changing the name. 
Also, now there's some end in sight for the end of the fillers. To be honest, I gave up on them at 160, and I actually haven't read the manga in about 2 months or so. |

So I assume the new Naruto game will be on a Sony Platform? With it being called " Naruto: Narutimate Accel", Narutimate being in the PS2/PSP Naruto Narutimate Hero Games, I made the assumption.

Hold on. A new Naruto is coming? Does this mean the fillers are over?
Thank goodness the part I fillers are over. I was sick of waiting. I guess this means it should be on the Encyclopedia as well. |

Excellent news. It's good to finally have someone that can provide real evidence (or at least a convincing picture) that Naruto is finally getting back on track. Too back that it's happening in around late January at the earliest and probably around May at the very latest (Just my personal estimate based on "Spring '07" and "which is roughly February"). Either way, I'll have time to finish One Piece and whatever else I watch I between now and the new year.

So are you sure that theya re-renaming it. And not finishing Naruto and starting Hurricance Chronicles a new series cause that would mean that Viz would have to obtain another licence and that would mean that the NA relase would be delayed further.
Since i was hoping once they catch up to episdoe 135, the fillers should be skipped and part 2 should be aired, since the fillers have served their purpose and they aren't needed in the NA release |

Apparently you haven't read the post in too much detail. Fillers aren't over and there is still another 3 months of waiting. From what I gather is that they will continue the current Naruto until this season is over, then switch to the new one of Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles. |

Well remember, the new episodes don't start until the Spring, so that's probably March at the earliest. I can't wait though. I'll allow Jump Ultimate Stars to asuage my three year gap itch until then (It has post-gap Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke).
