You mean Season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters, right?

Is the show being dropped from WB? I know it's ending soon, but some shows that were in limbo stayed on there for a while in reruns (case in point, Pokemon).

Why can't they just air reruns on weekday afternoons again? 4Kids must be desperate for another anime to air on their bock.

I think the article makes that pretty clear.

The story ended already back last Spring, & the WB has already dropped it since that point since there were no more episodes left.

I perfectly agree with you, 4Kids could make a lot more money by serving both audiences, the primary (children under 12) and the secondary (teens, anime fans, otaku)

I can understand your pain but if 4kids hasn't listened to the otaku/teen crowd yet they aren't going to start now. They exist only to make money. They could give two craps about how the fans feel.

And I thought they were going to give up all their anime properties? What happened to that?

4Kids never said they were going to give up all their anime properties. 4Kids only said they weren't going to dub as much anime anymore as they used to but they never said they were giving up anime completely. They did license Pretty Cure this past year, after all....

You know, they've already tried releasing the uncuts of Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh, and the loyal fanbase that had been yelling for uncut dvd's of these shows didn't show up to buy the dvd's. The fans of Yu-Gi-Oh screwed themselves when it came to the uncut dvd's, so they shouldn't start complaining now that 4Kids isn't releasing anymore, considering they didn't buy the ones that were already released.

Do you really expect people to buy all the uncut Yugioh DVDs that have only three episodes per volume when there's over 200 episodes of Yugioh with DUBTITLES that aren't even timed properly, an uncut dub that uses too literal of a translation and voice acting that's even worse than the edited dub and still uses the dub terms, has no extras, cuts out commercial eyecatches, next episode previews, has unskipable previews at the beginning of every disc, and doesn't even translate the credits into English? Hell no. But can 4Kids realize that the reason people didn't buy their uncut Yugioh DVDs wasn't because nobody liked the uncut version and not because people wanted it for free but because their product was complete shit? Of course not because 4Kids is too pigheaded and doesn't give a crap about anime fans to actually put some effort into releasing a quality release that people will actually want to buy because that means they'll actually have to put some effort into pleasing anime fans with a half-way decent product just so they can use it as an excuse to be lazy so they can say "OMG, nobody bought our crappy product! That means people hate uncut DVDs!". Words of advice: When you're releasing an anime DVD, don't use dubtitles. Those went extinct with laserdiscs.

Be glad that they won't dub as much anime as before. So that way your favorites ones won't be killed by the editing. 4kids has butchered enough anime so far. They've taken out the guns in Yugioh and replaced them with pointing fingers. Remember the yugioh episode where bandit keith lost to joey and threatened pegasus to declare him the winner or he would be pointed to death with his finger instead of being shot?

Not so much anime but probably something to bring back the ratings, One Piece didn't help so much.

Actually, they did keep those, on the other hand they did indeed cut out the next episode previews.

Now that you think about it, I did notice that. At first I didn't think that was a problem, but then I realized that R1 anime DVDs that have the credits in their original Japanese typically have a ENG translation in the liner notes, either on the DVD, or in the insert flap.

I have reservations about your choice of words, but that's a different story. I will nonetheless agree, however I must also say that it's more than just that. This isn't just about the people who follow anime. 4Kids actually doesn't care about ANY of the consumers (not even the mainstream ones; this includes the elementary school set as well as those old enough to vote). They don't even care about the very industry they represent. Ryan Drummond wanted to reprise his role as "Sonic..." for "...X", and was even willing to relocate to New York just for them, he got snubbed by them anyway. They just go their own way, not caring who they "insult" (intelligence, that is) and "point blank" (according to Wikipedia) refuse to acknowledge ANY criticism of their "work" (if one can call it that). They are only interested in hearing things like...

-We love your show!!
-Your show rocks!!
-"Character A" is my favorite character!
-"Character B" is my hero!
-I want to be like "character C" when I grow up!

...etc.

For this reason, Anime News Network, in regards to this...

(sarcasm)

"latest development",

(/sarcasm)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This time, I'll quote the late, great Clark Gable (HAH, I was born in the late-'70's, and I know who HE is!):

"Frankly me dear, I don't give a..." [You know the rest.]

...and personally, I don't think anyone else here does either.

There were two commercial eyecatches and 4Kids cut out the second one on all of their uncut DVDs. While this isn't really a problem for Yugioh, it is a problem for Shaman King because often times music will start playing during the second Shaman King commercial eyecatches and continue playing into the actual episode itself, so by cutting out the second commercial eyecatch, it'll only make the music in Shaman King sound awkward. I typically wouldn't mind it if 4Kids kept the credits in Japanese (I actually kind of like that they did) but I do want to have English credits somewhere on the disc because while having the credits in Japanese is nice, I think knowing who's producing the show I'm watching is more important because I like to read who's working on my favorite shows. I wish they could've at least had the credits somewhere on the disc or as an insert or more preferably for them to do what Funi does with their anime DVDs and take advantage of the alternate angle feature.
