Now I just need to to invent a time machine, go back to 1996, and make a fortune. Anyone have any spare flux capacitors lying around? Wink

Saying this stock was one of the 10 best performing of the last decade is very misleading. I don’t claim to be any kind of financial expert, but all you have to do is take a look at a graph of the stock price over the last decade to see that if you bought it any time in the last 6 years, you probably missed the party completely, although you may have made some modest gains depending on when you bought and when you sold.

That comment is dead on accuarate. If you owned it back before the stock splits and were smart enough to sell at the very peak back in 1999, then you made out like a bandit, but your timing would have had to have been impeccable. I suppose if you just look at what an investment made in 1996 in KDE is worth today, then it may be justified to call it a top performer of the last decade, but you probably would have been having fits watching it drop from about $90 a share in late 1999 all the way down to under $10 a share in late 2000. It’s not like it has been making steady increases over the last 6 years, either. In fact, looking at a graph of the stock price it seems to be heading steadily and slowly down.

I just check 4Kids' stock information from MSN Money, and according to this report, the stock is expected to underperform in the market within the next six months. The grades for this stock are not really that impressive

CNN Money is not too hot on it either, giving it a “hold” recommendation currently. It is near its 52 week high right now, but then the entire market is doing very well right now. It’s interesting to note that they have missed their earnings estimates for the last 4 quarters in a row, which is usually not a great sign.

I have heard this strategy called “catching a falling knife”, and it can indeed be a risky tactic. I have done it before, and have come out all right sometimes, and not so well at other times. I bought this stock at $4 a share, confident that it would turn around. Anime cry You just never know.

In the end, when looking at stocks, Mohawk52 has it right:

Well well, what is this? Do I smell a 4Kids representative? Look at all of this guy's past posts, he only comes on here to praise all things 4Kids related.

CanSomebodySayMedic:
If you are a representative, can you please do something about your terrible grammar? At the very least, I'd expect proper capitalization from any company rep. This is a reputable website with strict grammar and spelling rules for forum posts, and you aren't exactly making yourself (or the company you work for) look very respectable by not bothering to spell-check.

Looks to me like that person is just a troll. I don't think they actually work for 4kids. If they did, then this is just the wrong way to go about it. If anything, that person makes me dislike 4kids more, and I don't completely dislike them. The Pokemon dub was one of the best TV dubs ever made. And by the way, (thanks to the magic of Boomerang), the Riceball=Donut thing was only used in the Primape episode. All others had Brock reffering to them as riceballs.

As for the news itself, 4kids was a monster when it had Pokemon. I still have fond memories of the show (and can still remember the very last bit of the Pokerap sadly). It doesn't surprise me that they're that high on the list. Of course, with the recent bastardization of One Piece (the only real travesty along with Cardcaptors), I'm sure stocks are plummeting.

You seem to be implying that 4Kids had something to do with Cardcaptors and if that is the case, they actually had nothing to do with it although it may seem so. It was Nelvana's fault but at least they were good enough to sub-license the series to Geneon (known as Pioneer at the time) so that the uncut Cardcaptor Sakura dvds were possible and which I happily snatched up all the singles of. I'd like to have some decent uncut dvds such as Shaman King and Tokyo Mew Mew too but as long as 4Kids has the license for both of these series, that seems impossible Sad.

I just wish Geneon bothered to actually put a proper English dub on the DVDs. Cardcaptors held my interest enough to make me buy 2-3 of the uncut DVDs, but I never had the patience to sit through that much subtitle work.

For those not in-the-know, the English translation for "hold" is "sell". Well, actually, it's more like "you should have sold this a long time ago, if only you knew what we never told you". The English translation for "buy" is "hold". I'm sure you can figure out what the translation for "sell" is at this point.

At the casual investor level the stock market is in many ways just a watered down casino. If you think you can learn much of anything from CNBC or any other financial cable channel then you're probably in for a big surprise.

Here's my random pick for stocks-to-watch...

I work with Oracle products on a regular basis, and these guys have made quick work of their competition. No, they're not better than many of their former competitors, but thanks to yet another pro-business, anti-consumer Republican administration Oracle has been able to simply buy-out everyone else in the marketplace (except for a few like SAP and MS) without fear of any anti-trust regulations being enforced. Today's "Family Values" America is in reality all about greed and power, and Oracle had the cash, market position, and financing necessary to take advantage of it.

And everyone wonder why Al Kahn is still around....he makes money...and to any potential stock buyer that all they care about. However that said I'd like to see how 4kids share performance in the next couple of years....considering that huge lost they had last year. Pokemon out, and same with Yu-gi-Oh....there is a lack in quality titles available..

The only way I see 4Kids making a substantial gain is if they utilize their 4Sight branch and use it to exploit the adult market. People still clamor for uncut One Piece, and if Kahn plays his cards right, he could turn lemons into lemonade. Viz proved that you can both have an uncut and cut DVD release side-by-side and still make out like bandits with Naruto. Adopt just only the DVD tactics with One Piece, and I see the property make some profit for 4Kids.

But seeing that Kahn and his cronies have pretty much accused Otaku's as petty stuck-up vagabonds that don't give a shit, and thereby killing off a potential new market, I wouldn't hold my breath.

A stock can make a profit yet still under perform. That happens all the time. The Market (who ever they are) says that a particular stock should make a 10% profit and that it is the darling of the market and everybody buys. When it comes in at 9.5% profit it becomes a pariah and everybody sells, driving the stock down more. The stock still makes money just not as much as those greedy bastards want. Does not make sense to me but that is the market system.

Actually OP has probably one of THE best fansubbing efforts an Anime can have. It doesn't beat having a legitimate DVD release though. I hope Madman can come through though, that's what us fans are crossing our fingers though.
Pokemon fansubbing is well nigh non-existent, but like Cain says, the One Piece fansubbing is one of the best out there. If you haven't heard of K*&3#@-Fansubs, you don't know the fansubbing scene--they're the second-rated group on a major site, only beaten out by an overrated DVD-ripping group Evil or Very Mad They have said that they'd stop if 4kids announced uncut releases, though.

For once I agree. Because I don't like the 4kids version of One Piece due to all the good stuff they took out, I rather watch the subs. But I think the voices are okay. I wish Luffy would've sounded more similar to Goku in the dub.

I would love to see 4Kids release two different versions of Tokyo Mew Mew, the original and Mew Mew Power. While I'm sure that won't be likely, stranger things have happened.

Also, whatever happened to the rumored Hollywood Mew Mew?

Hollywood Mew Mew is the same as Mew Mew Power. 4Kids just decided to change the name of the show at the last minute due to the outcry of TMM fans regarding their choice for a name. What I want to know is what happened to the rest of Mew Mew Power? 4Kids claimed they were going to dub all the episodes but then they suddenly stopped in the middle.

Man, the TMM fanbase must seriously suck if that's all they had an initial outcry for. Most companies will release character info before release (at least, I recall that much with shows like Galaxy Angel and what-not), and as soon as the name "Zoey" came up, people should gone insane. >_> At least the manga was intact and really cutesy and good.
