Thanks.

There is a PS2 game that I believe is something of a prequel that possibly has some cut-scenes, but as far as I know, E7 was an original Studio BONES production.

Um, E v a?

It has a lot of similarities in terms of overal themes and many of the characters are analogous.

In terms of action style, there are similarities to Macross Plus.

Ohoni is right. The first two episodes of Eureka 7 bears incredible resemblance in timing to Neon Genesis Evangelion, right down to a just-before-battle cliffhanger at the end of the first episode and only showing the battle's climax (and the certain primary mecha's berserk tendencies) long after the battle ended.

And there's a lot of parallels on other things, as well, such as the Three Sages vs NERV. Eureka 7 doesn't exactly attempt to hide its inspiration, though.

However, from that point on the similarities become less and less. The general tone of the series are inherently different, anyway. Evangelion feels much more serious, concerned with psychology and the Depressing Things (tm) whereas Eureka 7 has breathtaking "reffing" all the time and Renton's far more concerned with trying to get to Eureka's good side than to play a caricature of humanity that Shinji is.

I don't know what are you looking for in terms of shows similar to Eureka 7, so more details would help. Mechas (Nirvash would fit in with the Gundams easily, methinks)? Feel? Skydiving? Angsty young pilots? Shonen Romance? Saving-the-world-without-using-Super-Saiyan-Powers?

Thank you Samuria.

I was looking for something like Shannen Romance maybe some Skydiving. And something that has action an the character trying to protect his girlfriend type of thing. Very Happy

Something that has to do with robots and humans like guyver.

Neon Genesis Evangelion only has 23 episodes ? Crying or Very sad

Thanks a LOT.

26. Just check in the Encyclopedia.

The last two are subjects of great controversy though.

Forgot to add: And also two movies, one is a recap of the series and the other an actual ending to it.

Shounen Romance with a guy protecting his girlfriend, eh?

The first thing that comes to mind is Erementar Gerad AKA Elementa Gelade. This show is about a young sky pirate named Coud who meets a humanoid weapon named Ren and decides to protect her after his crew goes down. This show was out in Japan around the same time as E7, and is also pretty good. It's strictly shounen of course - nothing too fancy - but it has better than average art, and a good story line. I think it's being released by Geneon here in the US now.

And just an FYI, you shouldn't ask for related shows when you're looking for similar shows. We've got some great recomendation threads for this type of thing here and here.

EG was the first series that came to my mind, as well--lots of adventure/fun, with plenty of "I want to protect you!" to go around. Given that a friend of mine is collecting both of these series, I'd say they're a pretty good match.

Oh, thought of another one. Gundam X.

That underhyped Gundam spinoff features the plucky teen male who picks up an uber-mech, the fragile but useful girlfriend type, the reprentant veteran bossman, etc. Not identical by any stretc, but there are similarities.

Finally got to read the reasons for reported posts. The claim for this thread is that the author should've consulted the Encyclopedia first before consulting the forums.

Now that I look at it, the thread appears to be a very low-grade version of a recommendation thread, in which the opener hardly qualifies as a good inquiry. Locked.
