I recently bought the box sets of Samurai Champloo and NGE Platnium Edition. Both are some of my my favorite series. But right now, i dont know where to go with anime. I seriously have 5 Best Buy gift cards sitting in my room right now, waiting to be spent on anime. I just have absolutely no idea what to buy.

I am in dire need of reccomendations. If it helps you, i also enjoy FLCL, Paranoia Agent, GITS, YYH, Bleach, and Eureka 7. Any help would be very greatly appriciated.

You might try Perfect Blue. It's my understanding that Satoshi Kon, the director, was also involved with Paranoia Agent.

anime#192

For something on the lighter side: Martian Successor Nadesico

anime#42

Step 1: Make sure your BB cards aren't subject to expiration or non-use fees.

Aside from that, relax and browse. When I get totally lost for what to do with my purchases, I just poke around. For example- Rightstuf is having a Bandai sale. As far as I knew, I didn't want any more Bandai titles, but I had money. So I read every page of the eligible titles. And whatdaya know- I'd forgotten all about the 2nd and 3rd Galaxy Angel seasons, and Gundam 0080. My-HiME and Digi Charat Nyo will also be making their way to my Xmas list.

I also come here, scroll down, and just start hitting the 'random fun' review links. To see what's there. Good time killer, and you might just stumble onto something new/forgotten to go hunt down.

I got this impression that your a kind of guy who collects anime, so if you're planning on buying those animes in the future, you don't need people's recommendations.

If you enjoyed FLCL and PA I would say try Perfect Blue although this movie has some extremely intense scene in it, I am not sure if you will be comfortable (pending age) with the movie. But that say I love this movie is very dark and well done. Along with that try Lain and Boogiepop, all are very mysterious and have that darker and something just below the surface feel to them.

When you say "I don't know where to go with anime," are you asking for recommendations for anime with similar themes to the ones you've watched and liked so far, or are you hoping to broaden your horizons so your tastes will be a little more well-rounded?

Ditto with DuelLadyS recommendation on My-Hime. Also try FMA, Excel Saga, Tenjho Tenge, or Samurai 7. Judging by the animes you like, I'd say are tastes are very similar and the titles I recommended are all ones I have enjoyed from start to finish.

Thanks guys. I've seen Perfect Blue and i thought it was excellent. Ill check out Boogiepop, and possibly Lain too. My HiMe sounds interesting, but i dont know what it is about. Ill check it out on the encyclopedia. And what i mean, Wolverine Princesss is that i am looking for both, but more on the broadeing horizens part.

I just cant think of any great, masterpiece worthy series that are well-worth watching and are very interesting. Any other reccomendations are extremely welcomed. Thanks.

I will recommend to you Basilisk and Twelve Kingdoms.

Basilisk has a lot of action, and is very intense, while its plot isn't as good as it could've been.

Twelve Kingdoms doesn't have any amazing action, but it has just enough of it and a great plot.

I agree, this is a very good anime. The main character, Abel Nightroad, in my opinion is a very well balanced and great main character. Other characters also play out very well like Tres. Although Best Buy only has the first 4 eps on disc, it is worth it.

As another fan of GitS, Bleach, Eureka 7(This is such a great anime.....but i think it's gonna get butchered like Naruto if CN ever gets ahold of it), and Samurai Champloo, you might want to check out Chrno Crusade or R.O.D.

Chrno Crusade-

Also, R.O.D, however the box set for R.O.D is at $130, so you might want to hold off.

That's a link to Trinity Blood.

Along with that tell me how my hime, and Wolverine Princess come out.

If you want to try for a Mech anime, you might want to look into Full Metal panic which is at 57.99 on BB.

Lastly, I agree with Otaku Sensei, that you will probably want to check out FMA(Full Metal Alchemist) and Excel Saga. Currently my Otaku club at school is going through Excel Saga, and while random at some times, it is still funny. Full Metal Alchemist is a great anime, but you might want to hold out for the box set as it is 13 DVDs long. I'm not sure when the box set is going to be released, but if you have the money, then go directly for each DVD seperately.... That is if you have the money.

Do you really think they'll release one big 13 disc set?

If you're having trouble finding anime to buy, you could always pick up an American title or two. Personally, I'd get sick of it if all I watched was anime.

They might, but probably I think they'll split it into 26 episodes and 25 epsidoes. I only own 12/13 24/26 box sets, so I don't know.

I think they'll release it in three sets since they released it with three tins.
