Since you moderators have taken on the hefty, thankless task of trying to clean out the banality and redundancy of internet forum (good luck), I would like to suggest a sticky for a list of shows that were cancelled. You could also include shows that have a conclusive ending, but their manga counterparts continued on with the story. And if you really wanted to work, you could include shows that are still going on and then change their status as they come to an end.

Pros:
1. It would cut down on the number of people coming around every month or so posting a rant about the end of His and Hers or other shows that were cancelled.

2. It would save people from being let down at the end of a show.

3. It would keep people who want to know whether or not a show is at its end from having anything else in the show spoiled for them in the process of finding that particular information.

Cons:
1. It would be yet another sticky in an increasing list of stickies.

2. Obviously, some people would have to actually make the list.

3. (The most important one) it would definitely keep many people away from some very good animes.

I know I would not have watched His and Hers if I knew it was incomplete, and considering how much I enjoyed most of the show, I'm not really sure if that is a good thing or not. But, that's for another topic.

The information is in the Encyclopedia. What's the point of an incredibly long post in the forum to repeat the same information?

1. The people posting such pointless threads are generally the people who don't read the stickies.

2. Every show will let someone down in some way.

3. Again, information about shows ongoing or ended is in the Encyclopedia, spoiler-free.

Where is this information in the encyclopedia entry for His and Hers? I looked, did not find anything like that, but did read the summary and believe that it, and every other summary, constitute a spoiler. I base the anime I watch on the genre and the creators, I don't want to know anything about the story. To look through a summary of the plot would not be something I would ever do just for the sole purpose of finding whether or not a show was completed. Also, what does the point about "Every show will let someone down in some way" have to do with them being let down because of this specific problem? Are you arguing that someone should not try to lessen another's pain if it cannot be gotten rid of entirely? Since I have only posted a few times here, I want to make sure you understand I'm not arguing for argument's sake. I don't understand that point and I couldn't find the information you say is in the encyclopedia. My only goal is to help.

The real question is, what constitutes an "incomplete" series? Is a series only "complete" if it animates every major event in the manga (or other source material) ? By that definition, many shows would be incomplete. Now, some shows may have been catastrophically cancelled in the middle of their run, but I'd like to think that most series have as many episodes as they were scheduled to have in the production process, whether the story is "complete" or not. Many series, particularly short OVA series, were meant to give audiences a taste of the story and give them incentive to buy the manga/novel/game that the anime was based on. That's just how things work, and as one3rd says, no series is going to satisfy everyone. Besides, you can probably find out about any series that isn't completely unknown by using the Forum Search and querying "[series] ending"; that should give general impressions, like people saying, "Oh, that sucked, what a letdown spoiler[everybody dies and then the creators used the reset button to give it a happy ending]." Of course, the same people who won't read such a sticky won't use the forum search either, so there's no helping them.

It's nice that you want to help to make sure the forums are a better place to live, but if the mods really needed that kind of thread, they probably would have created it A LONG TIME AGO.

Well, since neither of my points were addressed, and another point that I pre-emptively addressed in my first post was made, I'm just going to drop it.

Well, we do actually. Most of the ones that also post those threads are a flash in the pan. They come, they post and they might stay awhile but they're usually gone after a short while.

To me I'd say an incomplete series can be one of several things. A series that left a major story arc incomplete, like Twelve Kingdoms. A series that was licensed and began production but was never released in its entirety locally. Or a series that was cancelled prematurely in Japan and was simply never finished. While some series are based on manga they are still a seperate entity so I don't expect them to contain everything from the manga and follow it exactly, nor should anyone else.

I think I know why this is. It seems that everyone here is so relentlessly combative that it is impossible to have a civil conversation. While I understand that being subjected to stupidity on a daily basis will make most people a little terse, that kind of conduct doesn't make for a very enjoyable experience and it certainly isn't conducive to proper discourse.
