Last night while I was in bed you all compained about my SUCKimation comment. The reason I hate FUNimation is because they americanize their shows, and their dubs are usually terrible (especially Fruit's Basket.) I am not posting this to troll. I am posting this so you all will know why I hate FUNimation.

Welcome to 1997.

The last two shows that were really 'Americanized' were DBZ and DBGT, and were the result of circumstances and a different market. Case Closed was also a result of contract and licensor negotiations.

How was the Fruits Basket dub bad?

Every company tends to have bad starts, that's a given because, well, that's just how companies are. If you can't tell that they've been getting better as the years have passed though, you're really closing off your mind and automatically thinking everything they do has a bad dub. This was what everyone was trying to point out, and don't forget, some series get much better treatment than others, especially when it comes to anime.

I almost cried when I heard the awful sound of Tohru's english voice. Crying or Very sad It was the absolute most irritating, awful voice I had probably ever heard. Crayon Shin-chan was also americanized, and that's brand new. (At least by FUNimation it is.)

That's something that cannot really be avoided, unfortunantly. Personally, I really liked it. Theres a lot of people who liked it also. Subsequently people also disliked it. You cannot please everyone in that regard, so they shouldn't please no one simply because people might complain anyway.

Crayon Shin-chan is Americanised (or *insert country here*ized) in every other country around the world so I'm failing to see what the 'problem' is, assuming you're enough of a Shin-chan aficonado to realise that it happens all over the world.

On top of that, given that it's got a very Japanese-centric sense of humour, it's also incredibly awkward to market and therefore it's subject to different measures.

Super Milk-chan aired unamericanized on american tv. It has a VERY japanese sense of humor.

You should probably also realize that this is the SECOND English dub of Shin-chan, I heard the first one was much, much worse.

You really don't need to make a thread about that. Just about everyone could grasp that it's DBZ that makes you hate them. What else? Somebody despise Fullmetal Alchemist?

Unlikely.

Edit: By the way, a message to Zalis (from the response in the other thread -- I don't know how to use PM here Confused ): I believe you misunderstood my position about DBZ. Simply put, I'm neutral; but I simply was pointing out the likely reason that 4KrapSucks called FUNi "SUCKimation."

It's not like I agree with him. I never hated FUNi myself.

Edit2: Okay, 4KrapSucks. So you hated FUNi without even knowing about DBZ?

Weird. What makes you hate them? Ed's a little grown up for your taste or something? Confused

how could you NOT know? wow.

Um. Sorry, but FUNimation has gotten so much better. I think it started with Blue Gender, and just got better with each series. Yeah, Shin Chan annoys the hell out of me, but I understand that they "americanized" the humor. If they didn't, hardly any one would get it, so no one would watch.

Full Metal Alchemist is one of my favorite dubs, and OMG it's by FUNi. They sure do suck

So basically it's generalizations based on a very small percentage of their overall productions that doesn't even reference anything done recently, I see. Blind hatred and a closed mind never did anyone any good.

They mutilated Crayon Shin-chan about 1 month ago. I would call that pretty recent.

Localization does not necessarily equal mutilation.
