That's one awesome collection you got there, all great shows.

All the focus on those expensive GitS DVD's, makes me wonder if that's your favorite or something. Yu Yu Hakusho has a lot of DVD's too.

Congrats on the Trigun set...I wish I had that one...

see, that's a book case...lots of wasted vertical space. That's why multimedia storage towers are so much better. only room enough to fit a volume on top of the normally stacked dvds, but you get one maybe 2 extra rows in.

I just built a dvd shelf. It probably cost about $50 to do it. I have no complaints. Here are some pics of it as I was building it. The image with the actual dvds on it is a couple weeks old however, I need to take a new one when I get a new camera battery.

I recently got Samurai 7 box with dvds, Risky Safety box set, eureka 7 dvd 3 w/box, and Rurouni Kenshin economy sets 1 & 2. I'll add a pic with them on soon.

I'm also working on building a custom box to fit all them DBZ dvds, but I've been lazy and haven't completed it yet.

How come you left so much open space at the top? have you ever heard of paul champagne dvd cases? they're expensive but they sure do make a dvd shelf look purdy.

edit: finally installed camera software and took several pics...here goes

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e73/sykosteve/P1010904.jpg (this one's actually my manga collection...full case picture)
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e73/sykosteve/P1010903.jpg (my animeigo Original Macross dvds that i recently purchased after inquiring about them on these forums)

(Just some random (not in a series) dvds...2 endless waltz due to some address problems with shipping on ebay)
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e73/sykosteve/P1010901.jpg
(I got each and every one of those Kimagure Orange Road discs for 5.95 a piece before they went out of print...2 vol 12 due to them shipping me a vol 10 disc in a vol 12 case)

(More random dvds)

(My entire Patlabor collection...now all i need are the limited edition movie sets)

(self explanatory plus some awesome one piece figures i got for my b-day)

(my zeta gundam box set...all the figurines that came with it can be seen on top of the case)

Yeah, I know it sure would be nice to have a dedicated shelf for DVD size things. On the other hand those cost money and the set up I have was all free, just had to dig them out of the trash. Yes gross but why let perfectly good stuff goto the dump imo

I would buy alot more Le's if they came with a DTS disk like Gits does. I so love to have DTS, beats the crap out of Dolby 5.1 imo.
I do love Gits so it was way worth it to me to have the Le's even if they did not have DTS discs. BTW cheezisgoooood I believe it still may be possible to find the TriGun box in some of your less frequented suncoast and possibly even Best Buy if you live in the US.

I really like what you did there the color is awesome. I could and should build my own shelves. but then I would have to spend on raw materials and that would mean less anime Wink

Building a shelf is so much cheaper than buying one though, so you might want to think about it. I had never built anything out of wood prior to making it.

sykosteve, I know about Paul. It's hard to see in that pic, but I already have his Battle Athletes and Excel Saga Boxes. I'm planning to buy his Kenshin ones and Nadia boxes as well. I left that space at the top to fit any huge dvd box sets in the future. I guess it doesn't look so great right now, but it will look much better after I make my custom DBZ box. I'm thinking of making a custom Yu Yu Hakusho one as well if the DBZ box isn't too much trouble.

Any future shelf that I might make won't have that huge space at the top. I had a bad feeling that if I didn't leave any extra space that some huge box would pop up and ruin my set up. And wouldn't you know, as soon as I got it built it occured to me that I should make a simple wooden box for the DBZ dvds. I'll make a thin wooden box and then get some nice artwork printed out on high quality paper. It might sound kinda ghetto but I think it'll look fairly nice once it's finished.

EDIT - It's been brought to my attention that Funimation just might be re-releasing DBZ in box sets with fewer discs. I think I'll put my custom box on hold and see about selling my discs off for whatever I can get.

I really want the chamapgne kenshin box...the one with kenshin and kaoru facing each other when you put the 2 together. but that would require me going out and getting the individual kenshin discs, which is silly and expensive -_-

Or, take the existing discs, put them into normal amaray cases, buy the boxes, fill them up, and when you come across scans of the covers, print them out, cut them properly, and slip them in.

It's cheating, I know, but eh, you've already paid for it.

i wish he had a patlabor case, because those box sets that i have are cheap looking. man why is anime such a expensive hobby? I don't know whether i should focus more on manga or dvd purchases at AWA this coming month. I wanna get a perfect grade gundam model too if possible.

If they started making more manga box sets that would totally own. all 28 volumes of kenshin in a single box? how awesome would that be?

A 28-manga box set would probably be discounted from buying them all separately, and huge. $140-$180 is my guess.

All you need to do is email him about getting a case made. Hell, it'd be quicker if you already had the artwork you wanted, the dimensions and all of that sort of stuff. He does it based on commission I think anyway.

I doubt Manga would be sold in that form though, it just wouldn't be very practical considering the ammount of pages, their size, etc. Just go for the single volumes, a 28 manga box would be tooooooooooooooooooo long.

Also, Perfect Grade Gundam model kits are awesome, and are totally worth it, just make sure you don't get ripped off, and make sure you've got a good 8-14 hours to spare, depending on how good you are at making models.

i'm not saying sell the 28 volumes within the case, but just design a box separately like champagne does. If i ever buy a perfect grade kit, i want to do it properly with filling in the grooves etc...it'd be a several week project. I've looked into submitting art for boxes for champagne, but he requires very high quality pictures...artbook scans that zoomed at 100 percent fills a few screens

Yeah, I was looking in to getting a Scrapped Princess art box made but I just couldn't find enough pictures of high enough quality to meet their requirements.
