Well no duh Naruto hasn't been making the list. What do people expect with the endless crappy filler and crappy animation, even when it is canon material.

Well it made the list simply because Detective Conan was on a break that week. Still, it's disappointing that it had a better rating than HxH.

If you ignore the fact it was a "filler"episode that made the list, sure. Japan doesn't hate the anime-only stuff like some vocal minority on the internet does.

Pokemon reaching 4% now seems like a success...Curious to see how the next generation does.

I really wish that Whisper of the Heart would air where I'm living. Even though I'm sure that it wouldn't do nearly as well as it did on Japanese television, I have to assume that a ton of people would tune in for sure. I would be one of them.

I don't care what people say about Naruto fillers, but some of the fillers have actually been quite good lately in my opinion.

That's debatable. Those 80+ filler episodes that ended the first anime hurt the ratings in a way that Shippuuden never recovered.

I wish I could think the same. I cannot help but think that the fillers in the last few years insult both viewers and the characters.

Made the list because of no Detective Conan, but still, making the list above really good Hunter x Hunter episodes?

I wonder what the general audience age is?
I'm assuming very young considering the regular stuff and the fact you need to be brain dead to enjoy these Naruto fillers!

I would have to assume that at least some adults watch some of the programs that skew towards a younger demographic, though. In Western countries children's shows always end up attracting some surprisingly older fans. Naturally there are also anime and video game fans of an older age who will always watch shows like Pocket Monsters no matter how old that they end up getting. There's nothing wrong with that at all either.

Data from summer and fall 2011 :

世帯 個人.KID TEN M1 M2 M3 F1 F2 F3
*4.6 *2.8 11.7 *3.6 *1.3 *1.7 *0.7 *4.7 *2.6 *1.1 08/25 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*4.0 *2.8 13.7 *2.9 *3.6 *1.5 *0.2 *3.5 *3.7 *0.1 09/01 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*4.4 *2.7 15.1 *4.2 *1.2 *1.4 *0.4 *2.8 *3.1 *0.5 09/08 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*3.0 *2.0 *9.3 *4.5 *0.5 *0.6 *0.6 *2.5 *3.0 *0.2 09/22 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*3.6 *1.9 *9.9 *1.3 *0.6 *1.6 *0.5 *3.0 *2.3 *0.2 10/06 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*4.8 *3.0 12.7 *6.1 *1.9 *1.6 *0.7 *5.5 *2.6 *0.7 10/13 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*3.5 *2.3 10.1 *5.8 *1.1 *0.6 *0.4 *3.7 *3.4 *0.1 10/20 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝
*3.5 *2.5 11.8 *3.3 *2.7 *1.1 *0.4 *4.7 *2.1 *0.5 10/27 TX* 19:30-19:58 NARUTO疾風伝

M1 : men 20-34 years old
M2 : men 35-49 years old
M3 : men over 50 years old
same for women with F1, F2, F3.

So the main demographics are :
-Kids (like all the other anime in the top 10, no exception).
-Teens (this one seems to vary greatly).
-Women in the 20-34 years old range.
-Women in the 35-49 years old range.

Well, it certainly surprised me to see that Naruto is so popular with adult women. I am assuming that at least a few would probably be mothers watching the show with their children, but a good number of them would simply numerically have to be people who watch the show independently. Is that correct or is there something that I am missing?

That's not really a surprise. Naruto's biggest demographic outside kids are fujoshi in their 20s. Naruto is pretty big in the fujoshi fandom; even in the west on sites like Tumblr and DeviantArt. The amount of yaoi stuff for it is overwhelming.

What was more surprising to me was finding out Fairy Tail was more popular with adult women than adult men. With all the fanservice you would think would attract more men, but no you got more 20 something females watching on average than 20 something men, interestingly enough.

Indeed. I think that if they aired it in my country I guess a significant number of people would tune in. But I doubt the audience would be as large as it is with Pixar's movies though.
