Gatchaman Crowds (TV)
Gatchaman Crowds insight (TV)

Genres: Adventure, Sci-Fi
Themes: aliens, fighting, superhero

Plot Summary: The story is set in Japan in the early summer of 2015. 180,000 people live in Tachikawa City, the "second metropolis" of the Tokyo area. Among them are "Gatchaman"—warriors who fight in special reinforced suits powered by "NOTE," the manifestation of special spiritual powers in living beings. A council has scouted a group of individuals with latent powers to protect Earth from alien criminals. In recent years, the council has assigned Gatchaman warriors to deal with the mysterious entity known as "MESS."

Episode 1:
Decent start. I loved the spoiler[OP song and one particular girl at the beginning. I got a little GC vibe during one of the earlier scenes as well.] As for the rest of the episode, the mecha designs are nice and I'm liking the themes of the show so far.

Also, this reminded me somewhat of Tiger & Bunny based on the premise. Yup, I'll keep watching this to see how it goes. Getchamaaaaaaaaaan

Ep 1 was a lot of fun to watch, the main character is certainly entertaining at the very least.

I suppose if you had the hots for Crazy Girl, a good strategy would be to tie a notebook to your penis.

...

Did I say that out loud?

Let's see if I got this right. The earth is invaded by two groups of aliens. Normal people are unaware of this and there is no effect on earth that normal people are aware of. You are recruited by one group and told that the other group is doing "bad" things and needs to be destroyed. You are presented with no real evidence of these bad things. How do you know you are on the right side, or even if there is a right side for earth???
Shocked

It was definitely weird for a Gatchaman series, and that's saying a lot. I feel almost like it's a sequel to Tsuritama instead. The main character in this is a lot like Haru, possibly too much ...

@ Alan45 - geez, when did you become so cynical and mistrusting??? CLEARLY Panda-dude and Creepy Space Vampire are the good guys and Tentacle Rubik's Cubers are the baddies. Ya don't need to go to Super Hero School to figure that out. Wink

Wow, this is so Tiger & Bunny meets Devil Survivor 2.
Don't think I'm gonna like this one.
It's just to weird, but not in a good way that I usually like.
Think I'm gonna skip this one..

@Blood-
You're in Italy on vacation. A dude contacts you and says, "I'm from the CIA, it is your duty to take this package to Turkey". Next thing you know you're in a Turkish jail for the next 40 years on a drug charge.

Of course it helps if you are a complete airhead. The sort that goes, "yeah, yeah" when you are explaining how to do something and later swears you said nothing of the kind because they weren't listening.

Is the CIA dude a talking panda? A space vampire? If not, totally irrelevant.

I'm... not even sure what the heck I just saw. I mean, I liked it. And I'm always fond of a goudere lead (though they can get annoying if they're not bringing anything new to the table after a few episodes). The transformed versions are generally cool. The art is really nice in that katanagatari sort of way.

This is one of those series where I can't actually fault the show on anything. Even the BGM was good. But I really, really feel like I need to be hesitant with it. I'll give it a few more episodes since I can't actually deny how fun it is.

Also, waiting for cannibalism-related fanart of the swimsuit girl.

Ugh. Totally hated the first episode. From the dandruff ridden characters, to the rubik's cube spoiler[aliens], and the totally annoying personalities. The first episode was close to crossing the line into corniness. I'll give it another episode before writing it off, but so far its not my cup of tea.

The original Gatchaman was pretty corny itself if you really think about it.
