I was quite happy to donate what ended up being $103.47(currency exchange) towards this kickstarter project. Time of Eve is one of the few anime I consider to be a 10/10, so I definitely wanted it in my collection.

Too bad they're not including a DVD version I don't have a Blu-ray player
Now if only the series on Anime Sols can reach that type of goal, perhaps we'd get a dub for series like Black Jack and Creamy Mami

Teehee I increased my pledge for the project twice, because they were really awesome about responding to their fans. And because Time Of Eve is a great movie of course

I'm delighted on behalf of the organisers, this project has been an overwhelming success. This is how business in the twenty-first century should be done. Fans are ecstatic and are kept in the loop, and the project is pre-funded and so immensely less risky than traditional release models.

Bang on. The organizers did a brilliant job of this campaign and it just shows what you can accomplish when you offer a quality product and then actually listen to your backers. I was not a backer, but I'll definitely pick up the movie and fan book when it becomes available to the general public.

... this is so freaking stupid that my mind has gone kaput.
"Hey, there's demand for this as long as we got enough people to fund it. 1200% percent? It's go. At the price we all agreed upon, no backies!" And it's already presold at around 100 dollars a set? Neat, for them, certainly.
The whole "Kickstarter" thing's been bugging me for awhile. I was ok with an idea of using the internet to trawl for ideas of what people want {"Would you pay [blank] for this? How about this much?"} but prepricing an imaginary product for a baseline profit {and then some, of course}? It's beyond blind buy, it's a deaf, dumb and blind buy, isn't it? Yes, there's no risk in the deal, except for the, well, I don't want to say "sucker" {That was a lie, I really, really, really wanted to say it} but the consumer.
{Using the SE crowd who have no sense of scale when it comes to purchasing to fund a mass market edition, now that's evil. Amusing and evil. Like AoA except they take your Seed money up front. Oh wait, that is so not going to happen.}
If this is the future, then it's the end. The end of trying new things, of failing, falling only to succeed with a bit of luck and gumption. The end of creativity for I have seen the mind of the fan and it's a lifeless, boring thing.
It what makes them fans.

Anytime someone trots out the old "this is the end of _______" you know you are dealing with a moron of the first order. Whatever, dude. You are clearly so past being able to understand what's really going on here that it would be pointless to try and educate you.

Animegomaniac I don't get what the issue is. Kickstarter is essentially a new way to pre-order a product with the only difference being that you pay 100% of the price before rather than a deposit or percentage of the RRP.

I am glad they are also doing a release for the general public. I already own the subbed BD release of the original OVA, but I will be sure to get the movie with the dub if it is $25 or less.
I congratulate the organizers of this very successful Kickstarter. I hope we see more of these hugely successful anime projects more often.
