So this month I plan on finishing my Ranma 1/2 set, but the places I usually shop at don't have the boxes I need instock. I plan on ordering from DVD Empire, but before doing so I'd like to know if they are a legit site. So I ask you ANN, has anyone shopped at DVD Empire before?

The site looks legit. Most of the major places that sell bootlegs have been blocked by the forum's filters, so you wouldn't be able to see the url for the site or even the name of the site. I would recommend checking Deep Discount DVD. They usually have better prices than anyone else and you can get free shipping on any order with no minimum purchase. Of course, the free option takes longer to ship, but it's up to you whether you can wait a bit longer or not.

@ one3rd: Deep Discount DVD is really only good if you live in the USA and have a credit card
and rightstuf is downright cruel to people outside the USA Americans have it really good >.>;;, if you live in the USA you have a good few sources to order from |

I've ordered a couple of things from DVD Empire and they're just like any other online retailer. It's been a while since I did order from them, but I remember it got here fast and in excellent condition. I think it was .hack//SIGN LE Vol. 3 or something like that...
Anyway, I can think of better places to shop in terms of price, so I wouldn't really recommend them beyond whatever your needs are at the moment. Personally, I'd recommend DVD Price Search for general DVD prices (anime, live action movies, etc.) and Right Stuf for specialization in anime (particularly their Bargain Bin and Weekly Specials). |

DDD is a good site, and like Tony mentioned, Dvdpricesearch is a life saver. I would check out bestbuy and rightstuf before you order anything because while they are usually more expensive, a few titles will be much cheaper due to low stock. For instance, serial experiments lain at rightstuf is on sale for i think $25.
Other than that, I love the site Dvdpacific.com Usually a dollar or two cheaper than DDD, but you need to order a few items to beat DDD since the shipping is not free. In addition, I find that DDD uses low cost shipping and takes an average of three weeks to get products to you. -Ben |

Really? It never takes longer than a week (7 days, including Sunday) to get to me through the free shipping, unless it's backordered of course. Oh, and I hear DVD Pacific is owned by the same parent company that owns DDD, which explains the prices. |

DDD uses Media Mail for its free shipping. How fast it takes depends on your proximity to their wherehouse, and the habits of your local post offices. |

Plain and simple if your mail office sucks, so does this shipping, I order the newest GITS: SAC and it shipped tuesday. Normally I have my items by friday, but I hope it comes on saturday, that would be very nice.... Till next time, Delta Kiral |

I live in San Francisco, and when I order from DDD they quickly fill my order. I'm not sure if I just have bad luck, but I haven't received anything from them in less than 3 weeks, and sometimes my products weren't all there. I stilll order from them if they have a sale, but I do so 4 weeks in advance.
For me, DVDpacific also sends out their orders quickly, but I receive them within a week or so. Along with DVDpacific, companies that ship to my quicly are amazon, bestbuy and rightstuf. Maybe it's something about San Francisco, but for a major city it seems kind of weird. |
