I'm big fan of Angel Sanctuary, and I always love it, since I was in middle school...... But I'm always getting annoying, and ask myself. It's right that Setsuna and Sara are in love, knowing that they are brothers? I'm like, why knowing they are angels, spoiler[and you know in heaven it's a great sin....] I need help with a good advice, no mean... [EDIT: Changed the topic name to make more sense. -TK] |

A very good question, I thought about this greatly while I was reading this series. Is it right for a brother and sister to have an intimate relationship? The answer will vary from person to person, so in my mind there will be no definet answer. My answer would be no. First, because in Christianity (Old Testament actually) God said not to be intimate with your sister, because it's "detestable" as said in the Book of Leviticus. Second, because they share the same kind of DNA, and if they tried to have kids, that'd really mess up the DNA sequences of the offspring. But what am I doing? I'm only giving out reasons that other people are going to be saying "WTF?! That's not it at all!" In my book, it's a taboo thing, and it's just the cruel wheels of fate that had these two were reincarnated as brother and sister.

Its wrong to love your sister "in that way" but this is a special occurance I mean how many people are reincarnated as brother and sister, so for them its all right in my book.

Of course in Angel Sanctuary it is alright, when I'm watching the show or reading the manga/graphic novel, it is totally different.....But at the end is just pop out in my mind.....
fighterholic: you are totally right too, about the DNA....omar235: Of course it is wrong......BUt haven't you notice, that each new animation/manga are involve/about have a crush on your sister/brother..it is sick.....But I think sometimes it is about feelings....IT is really hard to think about it.. |

For the record, this is a myth and is not actually true. Having a child between brother and sister does not magically cause DNA copying errors to run amuk. What inbreeding DOES lead to is a higher chance that recessive traits will manifest themselves. Let's say Parkinson's disease is a recessive trait, and it's one that runs in your family. You have a higher chance of passing that on to your offspring if you mate with your sister than if you mated with some passer-by on the street (due to the odds that said passerby has the recessive trait). The odds of these often fatal or debilitating recessive traits manifesting themselves increases many fold if repeated over many generations (British royal family anyone?). For most people, assuming it is not repeatedly happening in your family, having a child with a sibling or cousin is not a particularly dangerous risk genetically. |

I think I heard that on the news once, it can also increase the risk of your child becoming mentaly challenged. Though they said it was a low risk. sandy_taty, I was just stateing my stance on this kind of "relationship" so if someone who does accept the whole "sister-brother fetish" they would understand how I fell about it.

well brother and sister having an intimate relationship is just plain wrong why? because it's insest. there isn't any scientific reasons why this is wrong so dna's can't be screwed up or anything. in the bible (can't rember where) a man named lot fled sodom and gomora with his two daughters and they were living alone somewhere. so his daughters got him drunk and slept with him and had kids who were ok. |

Right. It is wrong according to God in Christianity. And Lot fled Sodom in the Book of Genesis. |
