About bloody time. Makes you wonder what would happen if one million people didn't like Funimation...

That must have been one tough negotiation if it took them this long to license it. So what, another 5, 6 months before an english language release?

They probably would have announced it at AX anyway, and replaced the million likes announcement with the English cast for Robotic;Notes or some other new show.
That being said, as much as I don't like those PR stunts, I'm glad they finally made it official. But yeah, would have been great to at least have an ETA to go with this, because honestly this "special announcement" isn't much of a real surprise.

Wait, this is an annoucment? I mean, was there ever any doubt that they would get it? Doesn't seem like it matches the hype of "guys when we hit 1 MILLION likes we'll announce something amazing!"

This is really great news. Now no one needs to wonder if any other companies *cough*Sentai*cough* snagged it instead.
Now hurry up and release it!

...and they got something we already knew they would get.
This announcement was very underwhelming for me.

Well I am happy with this announcement. And I do not think this license was a given, especially with the apparent reverse importation hysteria going on in Japan. I have been holding out on these Evangelion movies, but I will go ahead and buy the first 2 movies on BD.

I don't think it was that long at all. It hasn't even been 7 months since the movie premiered in Japan. It took them over a year to announce Eva 2.0 after its Japanese release.
And I am really happy with this announcement, even if it was inevitable, the sooner they announce it, the sooner they can get theaters on board. My local art theater loves the Eva movies and they are always have a huge turnout. I hope they can get in in theaters by the end 2013.
In a perfect world they would pull some movie festival magic on Khara and manage to get a screener for AX. Oh to dream......

I'm happy for the Evangelion fans, but this "announcement" was hyped up a lot more than it really should of. I was expecting it to be something to do with the company itself.

no surprise here. ---kind of disappointing, actually, since it was such a given that they would get this.

A lot of people online thought it would've been Sailor Moon but well, Evangelion 3.0 I guess is good enough for me.

I was kinda hoping for an HD bluray remaster of the original series in addition to this, but I'm just glad to have 3.33 on its way.

Tthis license was an inevitability. FUNi would meet higher license costs, and with another DBZ boxset coming out, they'll have enough capital for it. Zero surprise, we were just waiting for it to be official.
