I wish I had this problem. My bank account would love me. Anyway, any one who feels the way the OP does should probably think about finding a new hobby, I guess.

That almost feels too fitting. There are so many series I wish would get licensed, but it feels like the companies are often licenseing the ones that did not click with me.

But I do find stuff worth buying, like I got Index recently. Also bought the Heaven's Lost Property movie movie, funny as I did not buy the series as I found it not worth doing so, the movie actually has a summary of the series so it feels kind of like a replacement. And I did enjoy was original to the movie.

While writing this I am seeing the advertisement for Nisemonogatari, I saw the pretty looking artwork and stuff at the store today, but it was a case that I spent too much already and my brother already bought Bakemonogatari.

I wouldn't say there is nothing worth owning out there right now, but I don't feel like there are any "must-buy" series. I don't feel like there is anything worth living on nothing but 10p packets of noodles for a week just to own (Black Lagoon was the series in question). I feel like quality has dropped, but it hasn't fallen off a cliff.

There's plenty of shows out there that I'd love to buy, both old and new. Sadly, I don't have a large enough income to buy it all!

While there are still series coming out I want to buy my main issue there are even more series I want to buy that just aren't licensed.

In fact of all the shows licensed this year the only one that is a Must Buy for me is Shin Sekai Yori.

No, I don't have the same issue as you. That's because unlike you I can see there are plenty of good new shows and movies to buy. They aren't rare like you claim. Good titles are even more common if you use streaming as well.

The market is indeed flooded with crap, but that's how it has always been and it won't change in the future. However, like I said there are currently plenty of worthwhile titles to purchase, enough that you'd have to be very well off in order to buy them all.

On a somewhat related note, I can't wait to snag Monster.

I thought I was finally getting to the end of my to-buy list but I thought about it and I still have quite a few series I want to pick up. Admittedly, a few of them are old series with new licenses (Rose of Versailles and Digimon) but there's also Bunny Drop, which is pretty recent. Plus one my last anime purchase was Madoka Magica.

I have a feeling I would have some other, more recent releases on my list as well if I was actually able to watch current anime. I've very excited to eventually get caught up with stuff like Kids on the Slope.

So yeah, despite the numerous threads about how much current anime sucks compared to past years, I really don't think there's much of a difference. I really think it's just that there are more series available to watch easily now, which means there is less filtering of the good stuff from the bad.

I also missed the Monster news. That is very exciting, though it's another series I'm going to have to find a way to watch before I'd buy it (or I could pick up the manga, assuming it hasn't gone OOP).

No, I definitely don't have that problem, because there's always something coming out that I simply must have. My must have list is still long as heck and I'm continuously adding new things, like Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail which I added to the list just last week.

Hahaha! No. I definitely don't have that problem, in fact it's the opposite. Laughing There's currently 14 things in my backlog pile that I'm working on, and there will be at least 7 more that I currently have on order for the next 3 months.

Well, I can't really say that I have a problem finding newer anime shows that are worth watching. If anything, there's so many anime shows out there that I want to watch, I don't think I'll ever be able to find all of them all in just one sitting. Smile

Honestly, I must agree with the majority opinion here. If you're really not at all interested in anything currently airing, you can easily go back to any number of old and not-so-old shows that'll provide something else you'd rather watch.

The simple fact is almost nobody can claim to have already seen everything worthwhile if they actually take a moment to do some research or even simply look at their own backlog of unwatched shows, whether new or old.

My own shelf has a number of titles that I still haven't gotten around to checking out, despite their critical or popular acclaim. Not all of them will be masterpieces or even great, but I'm sure several of them will easily eat up lots of hours and result in months of entertainment at the very least.
