I disagree, as I stated above:
You can't measure trust. Period. Because of the type of statement it is, it can't be proven or disproven. The TV Guide poll is rubish, and I'll tell you why. It asks people who they trust the most. Pick one person. Obviously the largest % of people voted Tom Brokaw. So he's the most trusted, right? Wrong, he's the person with the most people who trust him the most. It says nothing about the other people's view of him. If 22% voted they trusted him the most, do the other 78% vehemently distrust him? Or do they merely trust someone else more. If they distrust him, that should count as some sort of negative against the 22% that did vote for him... And of course, perhaps the 22% that voted for him, voted for him because they don't trust any news anchor, but distrusted him the least... while the 16% that voted for Shepard Smith may trust him implicitly. Wouldn't that make Shepard Smith more trusted? Get the point? If you want to get the point further, read a copy of Aaron White's favorite book, Lying with Numbers. Or if you'd rather not read a full book, read Lying with statistics online. |

Or he's the person whose name they all remembered I mean, if you have a poll of names: Bob Jane Gary But the only name you recognize is Gary....you may not trust Gary, but you don't even know WHO Bob and Jane are. Chances are, you're gonna vote Gary anyway. |
