How is U.S. fairing on the Studio Ghibli Blu-ray releases versus select countries around the world? As many should know already, we are still quite a bit behind.

Iblard Jikan (music only OVA) and Lupin the III: The Castle of Cagliostro to the overall list. Panda! Go Panda! is also included with a Italian Blu-ray release (no Japan Blu-ray release). The overall list utilizes 8 other countries outside of the U.S. as comparison (AU = Australia, DE = Deutschland / Germany, FR = France, HK = Hong Kong, IT = Italy, JP = Japan, TW = Taiwan, and UK = United Kingdom).

Iblard Jikan (music only OVA) (2007)

Lupin the III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979)

Ponyo / Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (2008)

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986)

My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999)

Arrietty / The Secret World of Arrietty (2010)

Whisper of the Heart (1995)

From Up on Poppy Hill (2011)

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

Howl's Moving Castle (2004)

Tales From Earthsea / Gedo Senki (2006)

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Panda! Go, Panda! (1972)

Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)

Only Yesterday (1991)

Porco Rosso (1992)

WTK, do you think it is worthwhile starting up a Ghibli-specific thread to deal with any news about Ghibli releases? You could always edit the subject line and make this thread such a beast.

Well, since I'm suavely volunteering you to do it ... Wink ... it would be kind of up to you. Personally, as a grateful consumer of your info, I'd find the Japanese and other markets details very interesting. I know that this info is covered off in other threads, but seeing you make a special thread for From Up on Poppy Hill made me think, "gee, it be great to have all the Studio Ghibli stuff in one handy thread."

Feel free to tell me to go jump in the lake, of course.

Cool. And I wouldn't worry about retroactively adding anything. It can be a simple as using From Up on Poppy Hill as a starting point and then just making this the Studio Ghibli release thread.

Tweaked thread title and the first post concentrates on Blu-ray releases (some combo). It should offer the global persepctive on Ghibli releases (basically Blu-ray). US is still far behind (thanks to Disney).

And reposting the From Up on Poppy Hill info again below.

Oh wow, WTK, you went way beyond what I was even hoping for, but thanks so much! I love Studio Ghibli and it's awesome we now have a single thread for all the release info related to their stuff. Very much appreciated.

It looks like Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) is the next Ghibli Blu-ray title after Pom Poko. It shouldn't be surprise if it holds since the last couple BD releases have been followed by the production year.

Big Trip, Day 1 -- on the road with #TheWindRises, flying to...? So why am I working on Mononoke Blu-ray subtitles. Every day is a surprise.

This is the one Ghibli movie that I will undoubtedly import...IF the English dub is included. I'm looking right at you, Grave of the Fireflies.
