I'm surprised they haven't made Gundams or the mecha found in Blue Gender yet. Also, this marks the signal for the end of mankind. Twisted Evil J/K

Ah, it's not that surprising they don't have anything resenbling a Gundam in real life... you need some for of propulsion to keep them floating in the air like that, and, right now, the sort of propulsion seen on Gundam doesn't exist... well, it does, sorta, but... it only works for a few minutes before they run out of fuel. For war machines, a humanoid form would be completely impractical. It looks cool in cartoons, but... there's no real "point" to it.

humanoid is very practical, more agile/maneuverable than your basic tank design, and if it's built like the elementals/power suits from mechwarrior, you could cause some serious havoc, but like you said, fuel is the main problem (as well as being allowed to create laser weapons)

It also makes you a giant target. The lower to the ground the better. They can make a 4 legged walker that can be just as mobile and just as well armed without being a lumbering giant. The only reason why they seem to function so well in video gams and anime is because their only threat is other giant robots, but in real life they'd be developing special tanks with artillary that could take them out in a couple shots.

Giant robots just aren't practical in a real life aplication.

Relatively-speaking, I think real-life Ingrams, and the other mecha seen in Patlabor, are a lot more feasible than real-life Gundams/GMs, simply because the Patlabor mecha don't fly. I think some of the construction vehicles as seen in Patlabor are more likely than Ingrams themselves, though, because a lot of the construction mechs aren't bipeds and have a much lower centre of gravity.
