CCS:
Quote: | Even if no one in the EMI negotiating team is under the misconception that all anime is porn, that particular song is known by pretty much the whole world. |
It's known by everyone in the whole world who watched MTV back when the channel played music videos.
Quote: | They might have secured it in Japan just because the song didn't seem to have that sort of potential |
Or because Japan's pretty loose about copyrights of international material. Though as we've seen from Kodocha and Macross 7, their record companies can be stingy bastards, too.
Jmays: Stupid jerks. It's free advertising.

It's disappointing that they were unable to use "Girls on Film" for the opening theme, but at least they tried and they informed us about it (although a little late as the first volumes are already shipping).

I'm an anime fan that likes "exact" and even though R1's its impossible as it is (companies aren't going to even think of going "fansub" style) This is why I don't really like my two volumes of Zeta Gundam because of the OP is missing and thus I'm definitly not going to buy it
btw I'm guessing the reason why they couldn't get the right is because they didn't give enough money

I think if EMI lisenced the song to FUNi, it would have opened Duran Duran's music to a new, younger audience. They would've gone out and bought the albums, henceforth making more money for EMI. Look! It's advertising! I've heard that the reason that companies allow television shows, including anime, and comercials to use their music is to advertise the musician. Look how well that worked for Asian Kung Fu Generation with Naruto and FMA, High and Mighty Color with Gundam Seed Destiny and Bleach, and Nami Tamaki for Gundam Seed!

Two years of negotiations and begging along with lots of money. |
So THAT'S where the animation budget went...
I wasn't even planning on buying the seires (given it wasn't that great) but now... I plan on buying it even less!

Didn't Densha Ototko recently use this song for their opening. (which was very Daicon IV like)
...Also the opening animation for the show (Densha) was done by Gonzo.
Am I missing the point here?
