*guilitily stashes away her new boxsets of SM seasons 1 + 2*
Heheheh. I still remember having such a crush on Darien/Mamoru as a kid. I still have a thing for both the name Darien and for the dark hair-blue/green eyes combination. And he has the same birthday as me! (August 3rd, booyah!) Let's see, Sailor Moon managed to introduce me to the wonders of yaoi , complex and moralistic villians, and the wonderful love conquers all attitude. Needless to say, I'm still a fan. I only wish I could buy the old manga, now that I actually have the money to buy them. The manga is classic, the anime...not as much, IMO. |

Funny to see this poll right around the time that alt.fan.sailor-moon has started having a major increase in posts.
I was mainly introduced to anime through Sailor Moon (I mean, I'd seen Speed Racer, Voltron, and Star Sheriffs before, but SM really kickstarted it), and quite honestly, I still enjoy it today. Joining in with a group of people on AFSM, I'm currently doing "200 days of Sailor Moon" where we will be watching an episode of Sailor Moon a day and discussing the episodes on the newsgroup. It's actually going to be a bit more like 207 days of Sailor Moon, once we add in the movies and specials, but the guy who started it didn't initially plan on those. ^_- I've long since found anime that is much better than Sailor Moon (of course), but it still has special meaning to me, and I still find it very enjoyable. My current rewatch confirms that. Cheesy filler, silly dialogue, some ugly animation (Ando)... It's all there, but so is what I remembered loving: well done character personalities, great chemistry between the seiyuu, and an interesting overall story. |

My daughter would still like to see it but I would only be interested in the uncut version. and seeing as I have as much chance hitting the Lotto than ever hearing the uncut dubbed in English, I caught the train to the next station.

Excellent, add me to that list of August 3rd birthdays.
Though it was Ranma 1/2 that was mostly responsible for roping me firmly into anime fandom, my housemate first got into the scene through Sailor Moon after he watched some episodes while recovering from surgery. I well remember the years whem SM was the big thing. You couldn't get through a cosplay without there being at least a handful of skits devoted to it. I have a few of the manga, and one of these days I'll get around to finishing the collection... |

Never was, never will be, just never found the series even remotely appealing.

Sailor Moon was what got me into anime in the first place. Yeah there's filler, Yeah it's cheesey but it's fun and you get to see Usagi/Sailor Moon grow into herself as a person and as a Sailor Soldier. I like that.
I can only hope that eventually it will be re-licensed here in the States for the ENTIRE series including Sailor Stars and the mini-movies (Ami-chan in Love, etc). I would also like to see a re-dub of the entire thing (or at least the first two seasons), perhaps by Geneon or Funimation. That would be nice. Just let me dream about it like I dream about the completion of CLAMP's X manga. |

Ah, great to see these kinds of results. It's amazing how alive and well the fandom is after all these years.
There's always new things happening on the fan side, too. For example, Wikimoon which was started just a month ago but already has 600+ articles. (If anyone's interested in contributing: http://www.wikimoon.org ) |

Hm, personally I think the poll could do with a couple more options. Specifically, options for those who were more or less indifferent towards the show back in the day, but may (or may not) have changed their opinions since then.
Personally, I was indifferent towards it then, but now am rather interested in checking it out. But there's nowhere in the poll that I can actually voice that. |

Amusing timing on this one, my roommate and I just started watching the first season last night, the first time for both of us in Japanese.
I just adore Sailor Moon...though I prefer certain seasons over others, mainly because my favourite characters, Haruka and Michiru, are only in S and Stars (Michiru in fact is my favourite female anime character ever). So yeah, I would say I'm a fan (though it certainly is not the greatest anime ever...the fluff does get a bit annoying, but when they get down to the plot they do it wonderfully). |

It's basically impossible for us to guess every single reaction to the question and include that as a poll option. |

Never saw it. Course then I hardly watched Seinfeld, or Freinds, or Cheers. Miss a lot of stuff on TV when you work evenings.
I would like to check it out sometime, but it hasn't been one of my top priorities, especially as I have heard nothing but bad news concerning anything that is a legal product in the US, lesser quality dubs and damaging editing cuts. |

Even the uncut, subtitled-only NA release has its issues, as the audio quality is frighteningly bad. I was happy to have been warned about it or else I would have thought there was something wrong with my boxset. I've gotten used to it now, but it was quite a shock after getting used to the high quality releases we've come to expect. |

Sailor Moon was the series that got me into anime too and I'm still a big fan of it. I'm not as big of a fan as I used to be as I've seen much better anime over the years, but I still consider it to be a classic in my anime library and it's probably the anime I re-watch the most frequently.

I know someone who is still a huge fan of Sailor Moon. In truth, its about the only anime series she watches apart from Super GALS. I rewatched 2 seasons a little while ago and yep, I still enjoy the series. It's on my list to buy though I don't count on it with the first two seasons being so hard to find.

Um. I liked Sailor Moon well enough back when it first aired on Toonami. I was 14.
Now, I'd probably not watch it and I certainly wouldn't buy anything of it. But, when I was 14, yeah I was a fan. |
