Maybe I am a bit naive, but I tend to beleive the implied statements made on DVDs I buy. To put it simply if it states in the special features section on the box that there is something then I will take them at their word.
Now I am not so sure anymore whether I should beleive what anime titles say they have on them, or to put it more bluntly I personally am not going to take what Anime Works tells me as gospel.
Here is what happened today I was out shopping for a fathers day present, and as usual if I have to shop for someone else. I will gladly indulge in my anime obsession if the chance presents itself. So I was going through the shelves, and decided on Gun Parade March. A decent looking box set. Fourty dollars, but hey I could use a serious kick of mecha goodness.
I made sure to check out all the normal stuff features, minutes, rateing. The standards are there textless ending/opening. Plus a couple decent looking features sketches, and a interview. I like interviews they tell me that what I am buying is probabally above par.
I get home open all the DVD cases, because I want to marathon this one. I check each DVD, and take note of what each DVD has on it. The interview is on DVD number three. This is good I will watch the show then take a look at the interview. Long story short I get to DVD three, and what do you know. No extra section at all. What the maybe its hidden. I take the time to look for this interview I am going to get to see. After all they might have jammed it somewhere. Setup nope not there, scenes not there either, trailers nope.
Now I am kind of upset. I could have cared less about the interview really though I hate to buy something, and then not get what is promised. Finally in desperation I look to the inside cover of the third case for any explanation. You might have guessed it there it is a written interview.
Now I am kind of torn technically I was not lied to since it is there, but I had assumed that when it was listed as a special feature it would actually be in the DVD. Maybe I am an idiot. What is for sure is I will be damn sure to research any Anime Works title I come across before buying. I suppose I should be happy they dropped in that little music video on the first two DVDs, and probabally more thankful that the sketches were not on a postcard inside of another DVD case.
Anyway the series was pretty good. Actually better in some areas then I had expected. Afterall all I had expected was alot of mecha violence. Anyone know if Anime Works does this alot with titles. You know kind of a bait, and switch?
P.S. The third box lists that interview on the special features right next to interactive menu, and scene access.

Hmm I was pretty pleased with my Anime Works DVDs (aside from their god-awful looking logo). I bought the Twelve Kingdoms Premium Boxes 1 and 2 and I really liked the neat layout. They even included a little booklet with the different kinds of Youma and terms used in the series. The interviews were included on that one, although they were so long that I just watched like half of one and skipped the rest. That's the only series I've gotten from them though, so I can't really say much otherwise. They seem to be a little dated and perhaps a little less professional than ADV or Geneon, but they had some things that other companies lacked.

I checked my copy of Gunparade March vol. 3, and while it does list the interview as a "Special Feature," it does not specifically list it as a "DVD Extra." In most cases if the extras are on the DVD it will specifically say that they're DVD Extras; if it doesn't say that then the feature could well be on an insert or in liner notes.
Granted, it's a bit of fine wording, but in my experience Anime Works is no more or less guilty of such technicalities than any other American company.

It should be noted that Anime Works is a sub-label of Media-Blasters, not a company unto itself. I don't have Gunparade March, but I haven't seen anything else deceptive from other AW releases. I'd much prefer special features on liner notes than to see DVDs that insultingly have an "Extras" menu with nothing but previews and DVD credits.

I see your point since you did want to see the interview, but as stated before by others and yourself, the interview was technically in the 3rd volume.
I just checked to see if ADV did the same thing with their releases that have interviews on the insert, the only one I remembered and checked was Elfen Lied, and "interview" is not listed. [OT] Although they it did say "Shocking Reverse Cover Art" [OT]
I also hate the Anime Works Logo, specially the old one, atleast I think it's the old one, with the anime girl leaning on the logo, I much prefer the simple one that just says "Anime Works" on the gear.

I have always complained about there poor video transfers. When I used to watch there titles on my CRT monitor I would notice a flickering issue in the blacks of the images. It's really distracting and would force me to lower the brightness on my set. I bought a new tv since there release of Phantom and Genshiken 3 (have they released anything good since then) so should see if it continues to be a problem, but there image quality has been consistantly worse than many other distributors. I do however love the cardboard boxes that the 12 Kingdoms have been rereleased in.
