Does anyone know if the soundtrack to Kino's Journey was ever released? I have looked for it on line, and even poked around a couple of stores in Akihabara when I was in Tokyo in April, but have never seen anything. They do seem to use the same tracks over and over in the show, so maybe there wasn't enough material to release a whole CD?

I searched a little, but all I could find was this single from CD Japan. I hope your search goes well; Kino's Journey has a wonderful soundtrack.

There's also "all the way" single (Kino no Tabi OP) by Mikuni Shimokawa.

I just realized the database system of Neowing is identical to CD Japan. Possible same operator?

Yes, it exists. I see it on Yahoo Japan Auctions right now. Not allowed to link to bidding sites...

Edit: Apparently, it's a soundtrack for the Kino's Journey video game (that I didn't even know existed) and not the anime... sorry. This is just a guess, but it could be possible that no soundtrack exists for the anime because all of the music from the anime is shared with video game. It's your choice if you want to risk buying the game's soundtrack and find out.

Thanks for the help and suggestions, everyone! I completely forgot about CD Japan.

While the opening and ending singles would be nice, it's a shame they don't seem to have released the anime soundtrack on one disk. I'd really like to have some of the background music from the show itself in addition to the opening and ending themes.

You may very well be right, but I don't think I'm going to risk the Japanese Yahoo auction site. Maybe if my Japanese was better I'd be braver about it, but I don't even like to buy stuff off American auction sites. Still, it was a good suggestion. I would never have thought to look there.

I guess I'll just keep hoping that someday they will release an anime soundtrack, although given that the show aired several years ago it seems rather unlikely they would do it at this point.

There's a small Kino's Journey book called "Their Memories". It comes with 7 or 8 songs. It's pretty good.

My alternative to the "OST" is to rip the music that plays in the menus on the DVD. We're talking like two pieces of music here, folks, but it's better than nothing. There's one menu screen that has like a two minute track, a medley of themes from the show. It's great, but I forgot where I found it; you'll just have to browse the DVDs if you want it.

I did this with Kiddy Grade and ended up with like 20 tracks (about 1:30 each). Few DVDs have that much music tucked away in them, though.
