So, Viz's Shojo Beat twitter account has announced that they will have four new titles for us later today, to coincide with Valentine's Day. (As if I wasn't buying enough shojo!)
Anybody want to hazard a guess? As for my guess, I'll throw these titles out: Kyo, Koi o Hajimemasu Maid-sama! (license rescue) Usotsuki Lily From Five to Nine One is a selfish wish (come onnnnnn, Maid-sama!), albeit semi-realistic IMO. One is a very popular series that concluded months ago, while the other two come from previously published authors: one very prominent (Miki Aihara) and one not so much (Ayumi Komura, Mixed Vegetables). There's also Fruits Basket, but I don't think they would announce it like this if they picked it up. |

I'd be surprised if they got Kyou Koi considering how smutty it is, although they did get Black Bird... Guess we shall find out.

I really don't know but I am excited. Fruits Basket would be awesome, since I actually just started reading it as Tokyopop went down. I did expect it to get picked up again though and I'm actually a bit surprised it hasn't already happened.

First up is Yoroshiku Master by Sakura Tsukuba. They'll be calling it Sweet Reign. Coming in November.

Sweetness! I wasn't expecting to see anything that would stick out for me, but a Tsukuba Sakura manga will do just fine! I liked both Penguin Revolution and Land of the Blindfolded very much, so this is perfect for me!

I'm pretty excited for more Sakura Tsukuba too! And I'll give Seiyuu ka! a try, even though I didn't really care for Special A. (the basic premise of "guy is effortlessly better than girl at everything, even though girl tries so hard to get ahead" made me mad; so as long as this series doesn't do that it should be alright.)
As for the other two, now I really think Shojo Beat needs to spin off an "advanced" line or whatever. |

Hapi Mari, Hapi Mari/Happy Marriage!!! I hate that I love it, but it's josei, and I for some reason like Maki Enjouji's stuff. That title has me happy.
And I second the advance thing. I'm pretty sure some volumes of Happy Marriage will require plastic wrap. And none of the characters are teens, or near that. |

I would like to see more adult shojo and more epic storylines as well it's been awhile since a good long story like Basara or Red river or From far away came out. Lately its all been high school romance. I need me some fantasy or sci shojo

Dear God, no offense to the OP, but I'm glad they didn't pick up anything from Miki Aihara. I know that publishers tend to stick to manga-kas they've printed before, but Miki Aihara has got to be one of my least favorite big-name mangakas (right below Yuu Watase). Although they did exceed my expectations by choosing Midnight Secretary Okay, okay, I'll stop complaining about MS. Hopefully these titles will sell extremely well, therefore giving them more incentive to be more adventurous in their future picks?
I'd love to see more serious slice of life shoujo or even Josei in the same vein as Sand Chronicles. Like maybe something along the lines of manga-kas like Iketani Rikako or Ikeumi Ryo? I'd throw money at Viz if they ever licensed anything by Iketani Rikako. Ah well, I think it's a big pipe dream anyway. We're not in Japan and stuff like Black Bird and Kimi ni Todoke will always sell better. |

As in this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_Secretary Wow. Certainly not the Fluffy stuff that Viz tends to hand out. Edit; Okay, So even the Wiki Link says Viz has it. I'm just utterly shocked at this pick up.... |

It's not that weird. They've previously published Butterflies, Flowers, after all, which is from the same magazine as Midnight Secretary and Happy Marriage. And apparently a few weeks back they'd been asking readers if they wanted more mature stuff. |

None taken! Those were simply (semi-)educated guesses, nothing more. Well, I really do want Maid-sama! to come back.... As for what the announcements turned out to be, I'm a little interested in the josei titles and Maki Minami's new title. I think I'm most insterested in Happy Marriage.
