spoiler[why was that guy masturbating over that girl who was in the coma in the hospital at the beggining? it seemed so random, didn't he end up doing it again after strangling her at the end? Shocked]

Therein lies the core of your problem with the movie. The movie is confusing enough even after having seen the series, but going into that movie blind is like you're trying to kill yourself. Watch the series first before you try to figure out the movie.

Like one3rd said, it's like trying to kill yourself to watch the movie first. So much happens in the series that can't be summed up in the movies. You will be amazed at what the series has to offer to you and prepare to become depressed if you watch it. Happens to some

I though I had a grasp on the plot but now I've seen the movie again and really thought about it, it dosent add up to what I thought it did. Which was shinji and asuka being the new adam and eve. I paid more attention to the end and the assistant ( I think he was a docter) or second in command said shinji was a god. He wished the world to be full of people again, but as far as I can see theres only asuka and shinji?

Will everyone else show up later or something?

oh, and I dont think he's mastrubating on her it looks more like he was crying at the end. In the begining he could be.

And, we don't know. Although, whoever was doing the narrating at that point said that anyone with the will to come back, could, which probably means that in the months after, people would be washing up on the LCL sea (and being confused to hell and back...)
