Yeah, when I watch anime at night, I'll stay up till 3 or 4. Usually when I watch a DVD, I'll watch the all of the contents of the disk. So all of the episodes.

Geez. What are you watching that requires that much time to watch? You really need to learn to budget your time better and not overload yourself with too much anime.
As for me, I don't have that problem since I only watch a few fansubbed anime at a time. For example, right now, I am only following XXXHOLiC, Black Lagoon, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. As usual, they come out one episode a week so I only spend about 90 minutes on anime leaving the rest to balance my hectic college life.

Especially at 16. Sometimes when I stay up late, I sleep in late and miss classes.

Eventually you'll leanr to preserve anime o.O... there are just so many "good animes" out there.... so once you're out, you're out. Well the new ones are good but you'lll have to wait for them to come out and release dates always change so... . But anyway, I learn to try to watch this # of eps a night.

I don't want to sound like a fuddy-duddy but you do need to cut back on watching stuff. Try keeping it to daytime hours only. At your age sufficient sleep is important for the proper development of your body and mind. I can understand the thrill of staying up really late watching stuff but it doesn't have to be every night. Chronic lack of sleep also impacts how well your brain processess info. Which means you're not getting as much out of watching those anime shows as if you were rested.

No, it's the coffee!
Seriously, I don't have a computer at home since the divorce, so I can't download and watch. I would hate that, because I am not fond of getting cable to make dls go a little faster. So I am forced to wait until my rented DVD arrives in the mail.
I guess that means I am lucky, as I have so much to do just to try to make my house not look like a bachelor pad. But, it still looks like a bachelor lives there, sigh. But I do get many compliments on my yard, it is the nicest looking one around. Must be trying to live up to my Dutch last name.
But, I am up late anyway. I work evenings, from 3pm to 11pm. So staying up until 2 or 3 is not much of a challenge. The hard thing is to wake up and get clothes washed and dried, and my face fed, before I have to go to work.
My question is, are you getting your schoolwork done? I hope so, unless you are studying for art school, and hope to become an anime-tor.

Oh, I always get sleep despite all the anime I watch, the only problem is the timing For the past few years, I was in graduate school, which meant school started later than "normal", and in the summer, I worked evenings at a restaurant, which meant coming home at 11, showering and getting something to eat, and turning on the anime. Depending on the series, I often watched until very late, like 5-6 AM, and I remember finishing the infamous 12th episode of AIR (for the first time) at around 7 AM.
Still, nothing beats the most recent Christmas break, when I was either on message boards or watching such series as Sister Princess, Marmalade Boy, and Snow Fairy Sugar until 10-11 AM. Actually, I seem to spend more time with anime-related stuff online than actually watching anime, or at least a lot more than I used to when I first started out and wasn't in online fandom.

What are you doing, marathoning a series all in one sitting? You should really only watching one or two volumes a night. Not only that, your studies should take priority.

Yeah.... as for the idea that "there's only so many good animes out there" that is a LONG way off, even for me. I know I haven't seen as many as some, but I've seen well over 130 complete series and god knows I have a list that is nearly that long of stuff I want to see.
If you CONTINUE to watch 8 hours a day everyday you would run out in a couple years, but to be honest I can't even download that fast.
I do remember a time though when I was doing that, staying up to 3ish and waking up at 6:30 everyday. I don't know how i'm still alive.

I don't have this problem because I use a VCR or DVD recorder. (Now there's an idea.) I only watch about three hours of TV max in one week, and about half of that is news. I only watch more if I've just bought DVDs, in which I end up marathoning. But most of the time, I can't afford to watch a lot of anime because I have so much schoolwork to do and because I'm so slow at doing homework. I really need to get a better work ethic, especially in this time and place.

I just plain stay up late every night. If you look at the majority of my post, they were done after midnight and up to 5am. In California, when the sun comes out, it's bedtime.
But seriously I have the same "problem", not really a problem if you ask me, when I watch old favorites. I watched Kikaider the other night, an old VHS [as] copy, and couldn't stop watching until it ended. WWXII... Patlabor 3 I watched about a month ago and stayed up until like 4am. And the night of FFVII, I didn't even sleep even though I had my English 103 Final that morning... and I didn't stay up studying... I hope I did good I mean 3 straight hours of writing essays, I think I did go.
