I was starting to get worried you weren't going to have one of these. As a head of an animé club, I have to be on the cusp of all that's hot to trot and got to rot in the biz. (Man, did that ever sound out of character.)

A friend of mine and I were both reading this and thought at about the same time "Hey, Melancholy looks good." Hopefully it'll be on the market sooner rather than later.

Apparently there's a bunch of great shows this season. I thought The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was a brilliant show... so there's ones even better this season? I'll have to check some more out since none of the other ones really seemed to catch my attention.

Disgaea... it really is for the fans. I honestly can't see anybody else enjoying it that much.

Great call on these shows. I couldn't disagree with any of them (I skipped out on Air Gear though), and I wholeheartely agree that KIBA was boring as snot, Soul Link is way too unprofessional, and Haruhi, Ouran, and NANA are going to be toss ups with School Rumble for best show of the season.

Let’s face it: this is a show about gangs of teenagers on super-powered rollerskates who form gangs, get in fights, and are beaten down by The Man. If this were a live-action Hollywood film, we would all collectively laugh at it and shake our heads at how far beyond the bottom of the barrel they’ve had to reach for new story ideas.

Wait. I thought it was a live-action film: Hackers.

Funny how two of my favorite animes of this season so far have main characters that are named Haruhi =)

I do have to admit NANA does seem interesting and I have to check it out, but other than that, most of the shows seem very average....

Honestly, looking back on it, the only show I'd consider "better" this season is Nana, and upon further reflection I'd have to say they're at the same level of quality, being what they are.

Haruhi Suzumiya is a lot of fun, and I did not expect it to be when I first glanced at the artwork. Seemed like the umpteenth bishoujo-ecchi/comedy; but it sure is different, the fact that the first episode is more of a joke-episode immediately sets the tone for the rest of the show, and the way it doesnt take itself too serious.

yaaaaaay I've been really looking forward to this guide~

I really liked this review Anime hyper Well, I suppose I'm being biased because all the shows I like so far have been reviewed well, and that Air Gear was fortunately slammed (I don't like the plot at all, but I have to watch it to hear Kamakari Kenta. -_-u)

Well, now I know to pick up the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and drop .hack//Roots. Thanks~!

I think it was too early to actually put the spring 2006 anime preview guide....There are some shows that just premiered last week...One of them is The Third ~Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo~. To be honest, I actually like that show...had nice action, animation and somewhat above average plot. I could really only agree with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, NANA and Ouran Host Club as the best of the bunch.

Despite that, they should really mention this other anime that caught my radar. It's called Yoshinaga-san chi no Gargoyle. I found this anime to be very surprising. It has a nice cast, simplistic but fun story, and great animation. Most importantly, it is funny and hilarious.

Black Lagoon is another show that looks like it will be quite good.

Haruhi Suzumiya is just a joy to watch, far better than anything in quite a while. It salso a great example of how much of an impact superb voice actiong can have, any self-respecting American VA should watch and take notes.

There is also a litle show that just started called Higurashi no Naku Koroni its based on a game and after reading up on it and seeing the first episode this is shaping up to be the most disturbing anime of the season.

On a sidenote, I kinda like Joshi Kousei, knowing that the mangaka is a woman makes it less fanservicey, kinda.

From what I understand, the excessive fanservice in the anime isn't really there in the manga.

Honestly, the person who wrote those reviews is just a #@!&!
i agree about haruhi(Which i'm looking forward to it) soul link & Disgea (cheap!!!) , but XXXholic is not really better than tsubasa, it's much worse, the storyline suffered more changes than tsubasa's in only 2 chapters, the effects are all cheap, the music just doesn't fits and the colors are almost inexistent, the only reason i would prefer the xxholic anime over tsubasa is because of the plot and the characters, but Production I.G. Is destroying them!!!!, and by the way that 4:3 screen ratio makes me sick.

about .Hack Roots i must say it wasn't what i expected, the animation and special effects look just like .Hack sign's but i really don't like the background music... YUKI WE MISS YOU!!!!

Well, the pervo-cam is bit less overactive but from what I have seen the manga still has tons of pantyshots puts the girls in plenty of less than dignified positions. Its a breath of fresh air after all the incessant Moe~ either way.

Huh? The tsubasa anime is the most boring, derivative drivel this side of pokemon and quite frankcly the art while serviceable is nothing compared to the flashier titles out there. xxxHolic has a VERY vivid color pallete and I daresay the anime did a fairly good job with that, its not perfect but it works well. Also, considerin that xxxHolic is rather episodic, I wouldn't blow a gasket over the storyline getting some needed tinkering.

Ooh! I totally want to see Nana now. Unfortunately I only have CN. Maybe I'll check out the manga. Anyone tried it already?
