The players can play out the events from the original game or change the story.

So I can make it that I won't have to wait 8 years for Chizuru to actually end up with someone?

I'm kinda disappointed that this game was brought over here instead of something a bit more reverse harem. I'll still support the franchise and buy the game, but...I really would like to see something similar to the first game licensed in the US.

I agree. However, I have the feeling that this is part of some sort of licensing deal. So I'll just support it. At least the pre-order on Amazon is including some nice-ish premiums.

I think writing letters to this effect might have some influence. There are lots of different otome games out there that they could look at licensing. Maybe they just need to know we would buy those too.

I loved the first game, but I think choosing this game for the next license was a smart move. The gameplay is different and may bring in a few people who wouldn't play the first.

Either way, here's hoping for some more straight-up otome games as well. Now's a pretty good time to be a visual novel fan, it seems!

Definitely going to go pre-order this one, because I remember having way too much trouble finding a copy of the first one by the time I got around to being able to get it. Major fan of Hakuouki and fast becoming an otome fan in general, so I'm very interested in supporting the genre. I'm not sure if I'll like this one as much as the first one giving the different style in play, but the alternate storyline and revisiting all of my favorite characters (Sanosuke! Souji!) again will be more than enough to keep me entertained.
